First up - the Welsh
Hello, is there anyone at home or have you all been struck down by the dreaded lurgy?

They're trembling in fear at the thought of facing the might that is Wales.

Love it!Buggaluggs wrote:They're trembling in fear at the thought of facing the might that is Wales.
Mind you, listening to Irish pundits, all Farrell’s boys have to do is turn up and stroll onto the pitch to win the game.
We’ll see.

Sadly, the Irish board here is dead. I remember the old days when the banter before a game like this was intense.
Anyway, you do know that :
Halfpenny can catch the ball but never takes it anywhere.
A W Jones has one foot in the grave.
Lydiate was briefly worried last week when he thought he'd lost his pension book.
The biggest thing about Biggar is his belly.
George North has gone south.
T. Faletau still does not know what to call himself.
Tipuric thinks he's on the bench and may miss the kick off.
May the best team win as long as it's us.

Shrewd observations, Spiff, but your boys are blowing hot and cold, and Sexton & Murray - over the hill and far away now.
As an aside - I wonder if Farrell was on the blower last night to his boy - starting to wind him up before the match on March 20th - assuming his boy will be there!

Exciting game, though quite sloppy at times by both sides. POM's brain fart is unforgivable and quite likely cost Ireland the game. Ruined the match as an even contest but Ireland still could have nicked it with a little tighter play.

Felt sorry for Burns at the end. Even though it’s not exactly a great Welsh side, it would have been a famous win, away from home and down to 14 men for over an hour.
Pob lwc for the rest of the tournament.

As a Welsh prop (long retired), born in England and playing most of my club rugby for London Scottish, the awfulness of this afternoon's forthcoming outcome has sent my in quest of my Irish roots.
Tell me, what sort of place is Midleton, Co.Cork?

It was not as bad as I feared. Ireland were very good indeed.

They have the distillery where they make Jameson.....do you need anything else?Graigwen wrote:As a Welsh prop (long retired), born in England and playing most of my club rugby for London Scottish, the awfulness of this afternoon's forthcoming outcome has sent my in quest of my Irish roots.

As it happens Jameson's is my favourite whisky. There is apparently also a bar on the main street named after my family. A few years ago I reconnected the Welsh, Australian and American branches of the family for the first time since the great Hunger (thanks to DNA matching).
I really ought to visit Midleton.
Well done for easily beating us last weekend. We put 15 good (or goodish) players on the pitch. You put a team of 15 good players on the pitch.
