Mark Wilson - Retired

Post by Galfon »

Decision brought upon by knee injury - he brought something extra to club and country, and played his part in some of Eng's better results in recent years.Could have been a more than useful squad player for the next few years; sounds like he's got his head screwed on.

Good solid player. Should have had 10 - 20 more caps but was not called up when he first peaked.

Certainly deserved to be capped earlier and despite being a natural 6/8 first and foremast it was impressive to see that he was sufficiently versatile to play openside ( albeit in a workmanlike rather than flash way) when required and looked comfortable doing so.

I’m not sure what’s happened to me lately but for the second time in a week, I’m agreeing with both Oakboy and jngf :o

I really rated Wilson as a player. Shame he didn’t get the opportunities sooner, but still a career to be proud of.
