A bit of a suprise, as I thought for sure he would come back and make a late burst for the world Cup squad.

In fairness, we don't charge for opening new threads, so it was probably worth a thread of its own so people who don't go in the EPS thread can see it.

Fair play to him choosing to go out on his own terms - a one English-club man (well, plus Bedford, but who hasn't played for them at some point). It would've been a hard ask coming back for the RWC after 2 years on a sinecure in Japan and I respect that he'd rather move forward than try and recapture the glory days.

Yep, just a running, unfunny joke between me and nobody else. Speaking of which….. there are only two types of players: those who played for Bedford at some point and those who wished they’d played for Bedford at some point.

There is all that and the fact his business has been subject to multiple multi-million £££££ takeover offers.

Is there a team in the league who wouldn't have wanted him if he'd been up for it?
