Eddie Jones is currently off coaching Suntory in Japan.
Does not look great when he has much patching up of England to do at home.
Presumably this must have been sanctioned by the RFU.
Wonder how payments work in this case?
Suntory to reimburse the RFU for Eddie's services?
Eddie to make a bit on the side?

The biggest issue for me is 'who is telling who'? Jones appears to be able to tell the RFU what his employment terms are instead of the other way round. To place him on that sort of pedestal takes some understanding. He is just not that good.

Didnt he do this last year too?
I'm sure he has a clause in his contract that allows him to take a break from his duties, though i'm not aware of any other national coach taking time out to coach a team abroad.

The same article has been run by the same media outlets for about three years. Eddie has been working with Suntory for something like 20 years it really shouldn't be a shock.
He's also done some consulting work at Tigers. He often takes on that sort of work to help his perspective of rugby. Don't see an issue personally. He can still sit up and watch recordings of all the Prem games and communicate with his coaches and analysts. It is 2022 we're all well versed with working remotely.

Yep, we had the exact same convo this time last year and my opinion hasn’t changed: he should be here watching Euro matches after losing three 6N matches. He keeps bang on about how Prem rugby isn’t a good indicator of test quality but the knock out stages of the Champ Cup must be pretty good in that regard. Also, if remote watching were as good as watching live then why does he race around the country and Europe every weekend when he is here. If nothing else, the optics are farking shite.
