Bristol vs Gloucester: Friday

Post by jimKRFC »

Bristol:
15. Luke Morahan, 14. Toby Fricker, 13. Piers O’Conor, 12. Antoine Frisch, 11. Alapati Leiua, 10. Callum Sheedy, 9. Andy Uren, 1. Jake Woolmore,
2. Harry Thacker, 3. John Afoa, 4. Ed Holmes, 5. Chris Vui, 6. Steven Luatua (c), 7. Sam Jeffries, 8. Fitz Harding (29 apps).

Subs:
16. Jake Kerr, 17. Jono Benz-Salomon, 18. Jake Armstrong, 19. Joe Joyce, 20. Dan Thomas, 21. Harry Randall, 22. Sam Bedlow 23. Jack Bates

Gloucester:
15. Santiago Carreras, 14. Louis Rees-Zammit, 13. Chris Harris, 12. Mark Atkinson, 11. Ollie Thorley, 10. Adam Hastings, 9. Charlie Chapman
1. Val Rapava-Ruskin, 2. Santiago Socino, 3. Fraser Balmain, 4. Freddie Clarke, 5. Matias Alemanno, 6. Jordy Reid, 7. Lewis Ludlow, 8. Ruan Ackermann

Subs:
16. Jack Singleton, 17. Harry Elrington, 18. Jamal Ford-Robinson, 19. Andrew Davidson, 20. Ben Morgan, 21. Ben Meehan, 22. Billy Twelvetrees
23. Tom Seabrook

Hard to see Bristol getting anything from this one... Minor point of interest is seeing Jono Benz-Solomon gets on. God I'm fed up with this season....

Who's actually missing for Gloucester? Is Slater still playing?

Slater has played but is still injured - Craig would normally be on the bench or starting instead of Davidson, Jonny May would probably start when fit, Still hopeful Polledri gets back to where he was too.

Bris arent mathematically out of a top 8 finish so have nothing to lose by going for it. That is probably the strongest team they can put out right now.
Derby game just might bring the best out of them. Bound to be a big gate.

Think we blew it against Wasps at home really. This Glos side can definitely win, but I do fear that Bristol can turn it on in front of a big home crowd and upset the cart quite easily.

Is Jason Woodward still playing for Glaws?

He is still employed - but not played for many months due to injury, one or two starts this season - doubt we will be seeing him next season

Thought it might be something like that. Classy player when regularly fit but not a cheap one. Could be tough for him to find a new gig with the salary cap changes.

Wish I could give some detail - he's just a academy player coming through in a position we're weak in!
Did find out he's Spanish... Puja, what's the RR official position on Spanish props? :D

I fear this might well be the case. He was outstanding to begin with, great runner and scored a few brilliant tries, but no value for money this season really and I think he is one of the highest paid. We have Moyler from the Champ and Santi plus Lloyd Evans who are all decent at FB. If he can be fit for a prolonged period we might look to hold onto him but all is quiet from the club on that front.

Yeah I questioned Slater because I remember seeing him semi-recently. Woodward I assumed was gone at least a season back.

Bit of a mini collapse by Bristol after a great start and now Frisch is off.

Glaws have been dreadful this half. The dim slap down was a deserved yellow card but Bedlow might have let them back in after trying to remove Hastings head with the ball gone. Not a lot of arms involved. He's made some big hits since he came on but looked like he was trying to force one that wasn't on there.

Ffs Bedlow.... Understand that being red but after seeing multiple headshots to Bris players over the last few weeks not penalized it's frustrating.

Less than a minute for Bristol to hold on now. Gloucester's defence has been pretty awful. Really don't know why they took Ackerman off.

Gloucester's pack was so underpowered in the final 20. Quite poor not to close it out. Even their final try was fortunate
