Dawie de Villiers RIP

Post by francoisfou »

Who among you had the privilege to see on the field of play/remembers the great Springbok scrum half Dawie de Villiers, who has just passed away? Amazingly, according to the attached article, he only appeared in 25 Tests between 1962/1970.

I remember him well. A very good SH and captain and by all accounts a great bloke. There were some great Boks playing with de Villiers in that era : Gainsford, Engelbrecht, Jan Ellis, Greyling, Frik du Preez etc..
