Flatman is good. Healey tho very irritating, can come up with some insight. There may be some other good ones, but most meh at best.
It's been 25 years since tv companies really started bidding for the rugby. To my memory, quality of commentary has nearly always been low. For whatever reason, TV directors don't prioritise insight. I suspect they concluded that what commentators do or say doesn't matter to most viewers. More important perhaps is having a familiar name, voice and style. Dalaglio ticks two of those boxes and can coast.
I think it's been changing a bit. BT sport definitely brought way more analysis than BBC or Sky ever did. The BBC have added some more on the back of that. With the rise in popularity of the likes of Squidge where the ability to make the detail sound interesting and accessible in short bursts I'd expect to see more of that come through into mainstream media over the course of this season.

We can but hope! I just think that the consumers of e.g. squidge's stuff is not the same as the average fan. But it would be interesting to investigate.
