The Condolences Thread

Post by Puja »

To all the Worcester and Wasps supporters:

I am so sorry for what has happened to your clubs. I can't imagine how I'd be feeling if it were Leicester and for it to happen because of shitty reasons like financial mismanagement must make it even worse.

I apologise if it feels like we're picking the bones too much in the transfer rumours threads - I can issue a temporary moratorium if enough of you want - PM me and let me know if it's bothering.

I remember you both as infuriating opponents - Worcester for taking players who shouldn't've been good and making them into something better than their parts (and then whupping Leicester who had players who should've been good and were less than the sum of their parts) and Wasps for those epic mid-2000s days where we went toe-to-toe (actually, more accurately, when you repeatedly snuck up behind us in the late season and coshed us on the back of the head when we were expecting a coronation of our league season!). I hope to all the gods that you're able to reform as part of this Prem 2 business and your players take 1 year contracts elsewhere so they can return to you in the future.

Hear hear. I echo all of Puja’s comments.

I will miss both clubs and from a Quins POV, always enjoyed our fixtures. Worcester regularly gave us a tough time, particularly at Sixways and we had some epic games against Wasps over the years.

Yep, I played a lot at Sixways, before it became SIXWAYS :) and have fond memories and affinity for Worcester, and have always liked Wasps from their Sudbury days, great 'club' back then.

Worth adding - whilst I've called for a 10-team Prem for ages; I always wanted it to be a managed process; not like this.

I really hope that both clubs find a buyer and supporter, and are able to stabilise and rebuild as competitive teams in Prem2, and potentially higher after a couple of years (couple, because I want Bath [currently] to be relegated, and bounce straight back up)

Agree with the above completely. Living on the rugby ‘border’ between the two I can tell you the fallout is being keenly felt amongst local clubs too, Old Leams has/had a keen affinity with Wasps, my lad has run out as mascot more that once. Many of my youth players are now out of either of the academies, and wondering how they progress in this game. The impact continues to affect a large area and audience, outside of the immediate pain of the supporters and workforce at each club.

Christ Puja, a whole thread for this? I’d just about got over posting on the transfers thread this morning and now you’ve set me off again…

You lads crack on though with the transfer speculation. The world keeps turning, twas ever thus.

I’m not sure how much I’ll look in on this forum in the future, I’ve not been a big poster anyway, out of my depth compared with you fellas. But I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s contributions. I’d no idea defending at 13 was so difficult for instance. And who knew a back three pendulum was a thing? Fingers crossed the other clubs can survive. Worrying times. Cheers chaps from a former TH and Wasps fan.

Do come back every now and again once it's settled a bit. You may not've made many posts (certainly not in comparison to me, although that probably suggests *I* should spend less time on here, not you), but I've enjoyed your company.

Hey don't go anywhere just yet. Always enjoyed your posts. Take some time by all means but quitting? Nahh
