Nicky Robinson Retires

Post by TibetanBlue »

No mention of Nicky Robinson's retirement?
A Cardiff legend for me. Prone to errors but sooo skillful (especially his passing game) and a decent bloke.
Real shame he left us when he did - his replacement with Norton Knight was the first in a long line of terrible decisions made by the Blues.
During that 2009 season he was one of the form FHs in Europe, and deserved a spot on the Lions tour.

Also a shame that he's not coming back to us - apparently he discussed it with Wilson but wasn't needed as we already have 3 FHs (Anscombe, Evans and Shingler). I'd gladly offload Shingler for a few seasons more of Nicky!

Cheers Nicky for the memories
(As an aside, does anyone know if Jamie is still playing?)

Wasn't Dan Parks the player they bought for the 2010 season to replace him and only because he turned out to be hopeless that SNK was used, you also have Matthew Morgan as a 10 option next season.

Very skillful player, my favourite game he was involved with was the Heineken Cup game V Gloucester when he just ran the show.

Good luck to him.

Jamie had to retire through injury a couple of seasons ago didn't he.

Fair play, he was on top of his game that season, it was no coincidence that Cardiff had a good season that year.

I thought SNK came before Parks? Neithe covered themselves in glory, but SNK was a terrible signing.

I'll never forget bluesblues or whatever her name was claiming he'd come good until the very last day. SNK was god-awful and always was in super rugby too.

Yup, Gareth Jenkins' Wales almost won in Australia during the one game SNK started for Aus (can't believe he was capped)
Sweeney took over and steadied the ship (and looked like Dan Carter compared to SNK!)
Parks came afterwards and looked like he might be a good signing - he'd had a great season with Scotland. But he simply didn't want to play rugby for us - kept kicking the ball away and nowhere near as well as he had been doing for Scotland.
I think Patchell was next in line - shame that now he's developed he's moving on

I'm trying to think of a worse foreign signing than SNK. I'm really struggling to think of anyone that bad. Even some of the nonentities that Newport have signed have at least had a passing aquaintence with the position they were supposed to be playing in.
