No excuses, he needs to be sacked.

Re: Rufus McClean
There are probably some questions about why Glasgow waited until today to suspend him and at what point did they know.

Re: Rufus McClean
The court hearing was today so that is when he was actually convicted. I expect there is a legal due process, including a disciplinary hearing, that has to be followed once he has been convicted. A guy at my former work was convicted for a child sex offence but he was only formally disciplined and sacked once he was found guilty in court.

Here's an article for those wanting more detail.

Sounds like they suspended him when he pleaded guilty but it didn't come out until today. Completely right to wait until sentencing to decide on the punishment going forward.
Not sure how it works with the disciplinary process but wouldn't want to see him sacked by Glasgow then pick up a nice contract elsewhere straight away. He should be banned from all rugby at least until he has served his sentence (which I suspect will be a community one) and then will have a lot of work to do to persuade a club that he is someone they want representing them.

Re: Rufus McClean
I was wondering why he hadn't featured a lot this season. I thought it was due to his form dipping.
As he still young, I hope he learns from it but that's his career fecked.

Not saying it’s what happened here, but there was a high profile case in the last few years in football where the chap said he was guilty at the last possible moment so that he could continue to pick up a wage for as long as possible. Strung his club along as well as everyone else.
