Still seems an odd sized facility for their aspirations, though it is on the Coventry Rd. ( the borough as as opposed to the town.. )fivepointer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 4:22 pm Wasps are moving to .....Solihull. Solihull Moors FC is to be their new home.
The Chairman at SM went to a rugby school and played to a good standard (partly down to decent playmakers in the team obvs..), appears to have made big changes in a short time there and is ambitious. He has also run F1 and Football league clubs in the past, so will be an interesting mix.

All that info and nothing about how SM lost to the Mighty Mariners in last years national league playoff final?!?!?Galfon wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 7:45 pmStill seems an odd sized facility for their aspirations, though it is on the Coventry Rd. Looks like they're regrouping after that stumble..

They had to move/rebrand after financial failure so history repeating in a way.

Per BBC:
"Worcester Warriors have withdrawn their proposal to play in the Championship in the 2023-24 season and are to change the club's name to Sixways Rugby, say new owners Atlas."

Bloody hell. Terrible day to be a Wuss fan. I remember the near miss with ******’s desire to move us to MK.

It is sad for Wuss fans, but you can see the logic in the new owners looking at what it would take to get in, and having to agree to it by next week, and deciding that going slowly and taking the long way is better for them, especially if the RFU was more motivated by getting something in place fast, rather than something that can be sustained.

Re: Wasps & Wuss new developments
I think there's a good argument - they were sold it on the basis that they would save Worcester Warriors, which they've just decided sounds too much like hard work.

Re: Wasps & Wuss new developments
150 years building to this ?
It's an insult to Cecil and all the great things he did, plus the genuine fans and sponsors ( semi final in a Euro Challenge things not too long ago.. )
Never mind, there'll be plenty who have trousered more than a few bob from the brand over recent years.
Presumably a new 'Worcester RFC' will emerge from the ashes again in some guise and start anew,
Maybe Stourbridge-Sixways will come to the conclusion that a 'Worcester' brand may work better

Re: Wasps & Wuss new developments
Some rumours that Wasps will now sign a deal to play at the Sixways Stadium. The ground to be shared between them and Stourbridge.

Bugger the Worcester name, I'll be far more upset if Stourbridge disappear. That was the club my great grandfather, great uncle, dad and uncles all played for. This bothers me way more that it should. Stourton's facilities always seemed pretty darn nice to me as well.Which Tyler wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 11:14 am Well ****

Great little club and ground- played there a lot in my youth, county, colts and university. Think it was upgraded a bit and became an england training base for a while?Mr Mwenda wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 3:00 pmBugger the Worcester name, I'll be far more upset if Stourbridge disappear. I can't speak for how it was and I haven't been back since my great uncle died and "he finally bought everyone a round". It always seemed liked Twickenham compared to the facilities in the Sussex leagues I mostly played in.Banquo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 3:10 pmGreat little club and ground- played there a lot in my youth, county, colts and university.
