Mumbai Indians NY reach the final ! (today)
Good feather in the cap whoever bags it.
It will be interesting to see how the local media report it.

Orcas have been impressive throughout but it's Twenty20 so anything's possible..The Seattle Orcas and MI New York will battle to claim the MLC title and make American cricket history on a day that will feature a spectacle on- and off-the-field for fans to enjoy starting at 7:30 p.m. The championship match will also have Mrs. Nita Ambani, Team Owner of MI New York and Satya Nadella, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft and Co-Owner of the Seattle Orcas, in attendance.

Think Stokes got it a bit wrong for a change yesterday. Overbowled Anderson and Root, underbowled Woakes.

Well, this comment has aged like fine whisky. Good job!
We need to get through Smith and Labuschagne quickly though - then the Australians will go into their shells and become sitting ducks. Those two still have the ability to knock the stuffing out of us.

Re: Cricket fred
In what sense?
He always annoys me, becase his name is spelled exactly the same as Jannus Labuschagne (the ex South Africa lock who got red carded when we beat them 49-3 when they just turned to thuggery), but it's pronounced completely differently (Lab-e-shayne, rather than La-boo-skak-ne) which is upsetting.
He's gone now, either way.

you muppet stokes. Unforgiveable tbh. Smith twice let off in this match with some dumbness.

It is forgivable in the sense that he has done that a thousand times before and it's never gone wrong, but unforgivable in the sense that he knew there was a one in a thousand chance and made the decision to value celebrating and looking cool over being safe and secure.
Interesting point of law - it's definitely not out (in the same way that the Starc catch from earlier in the series wasn't out), but I've definitely seen players with less time of ball in hand and less obvious control chucking it away in celebration and that being considered acceptable. Not arguing against this decision - arguing that there are a fair few who play fast and loose and really should be a bit more careful.

This is tremendous work by the ICC to get this out so quickly: https://www.icc-cricket.com/news/3611773

Re: Cricket fred
According to the BBC website, there are five "officials" at today's Test.
Do we no longer have "umpires", and why five, and why not two in the middle and one "TMO" in his box?
It's many years that I've watched Test cricket on the telly (strangley enough, the Frogs aren't interested in God's game!) and things must've changed a lot.

Re: Cricket fred
I believe there's two umpires on the pitch, one spare umpire in case of injury to one, one TMO, and one match official (who does things like hand out fines for slow over rate and ungentlemanly conduct).francoisfou wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 4:17 pm According to the BBC website, there are five "officials" at today's Test.

Re: Cricket fred
This is all bit different now. Breaking both entrenched batsmen, plus taking out the dangerous and fast-scoring Marsh has changed the complexion completely. They've now not got the batsmen to win the game quickly and we're one more wicket away from Australia starting to panic. 10 minutes ago, they were walking to the total.
Not a done deal though - still a lot of people who can hold a bat left to come and it's still only 110 runs to defend.
