Is that EJ's legacy?
I mean, I was kidding, and then read this: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/ ... -world-cup

"South Africa will not call up a replacement for the 64-cap Marx and their head coach, Jacques Nienaber, said another utility forward, Marco van Staden, has also been training at hooker."

If I was World Rugby I'd be wanting to see some sort of video evidence of this.

It's hard to see what benefit there is to them in making it up, but still, it's a bloody odd move.
I hadn't realised that they'd only brought 2 hookers (and 4 scrum-halves?!) in their original squad and so they've already got a flanker covering hooker in Fourie for the Romania game. I guess why the hell not just have 1 hooker and 2 hook/flankers for the RWC?! Whoever their third choice hooker is must be getting pretty offended at this point. Be interesting if Mbonambi goes down injured - does Fourie then become their starting hooker or do they bite the bullet and call someone up?

Speaking of injured hookers, Cherry (Sco) is out of the world cup having suffered a concussion while heroically taking on the SA bomb squad.... nah I'm kidding he's out of the world cup after slipping on some stairs and injuring his head!!

If we've learned anything from Springbok selections, it's that anyone can apparently play anywhere.

It's what they do. 12 forwards, maybe pass to a wing sometimes, and Faf roams around like a shit He-Man
