Re: Bath v Ulster
A) Slade could easily make the next World Cup (as could Ford)
B) If we’re aiming to win the next World Cup the 13 needs to be a better performer than Slade.
C) Only pick Slade if you think he’s your best 13 not as some yardstick as our next cabs off the rank, ie Marchant (on his return), Lawrence and Freeman, are all a completely different style of player.
All imo, obvs.

what don't I agree with? I wouldn't pick Farrell or Vunipola for sure.Oakboy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 12:29 pmWhat I meant was if we were not picking on reputation i.e. the likes of Ford, Farrell, Vunipola, Tuilagi (for example) would need to be the best in their positions based on club form. Farrell has dropped out anyway. The other three would struggle to be selected on current merit. I know you don't agree but I'd pick none of the three anyway based on rebuilding for four years time. I'd not pick Spencer either on that basis.

Nice little article in the Guardian where Alfie B. cheerfully admits that he would rather be eating/drinking/sitting on the couch than grinding away in the gym. But he's trying to reform. Seems to have a laid back attitude - today's Jason Leonard?
