6 nations
Looks pretty weak on the wings
Half backs to bed in
Mahony at 6 as captain, he's a leader but not an athlete compared to baird etc

I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Scotland have the personnel but that attempted hari kiri v Wales doesn't bode well for them
England have no ambition
Italy short at 9, 10, 13 even if pack gets parity
Wales in transition

The potential banana skin for ireland is England, and IF they click against Wales and Scotland they may just cause you a few problems, but I'm not holding my breath.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 4:20 pmScotland have the personnel but that attempted hari kiri v Wales doesn't bode well for them

As for Wales, an old Welsh friend tells me each season that Wales are rebuilding (and that's since the early 1970s!)

Ah, that would be no. Ireland just too strong. Italy were in the fight for about 10 minutes, then basic error after basic error. Lot of daylight between Ireland and the rest. The rematch with ABs in November will be a beauty.

Re: 6 nations
I think it’s time to think about Ireland’s place in the 6 nations, but not in the normal way that phrase is used. They look leagues ahead of everyone in simply not making daft errors all the time.
Shall we swap you Ireland for Aus/Arg?

Not making daft errors all the time is the very definition of a well drilled/coached team.
Yeah, nah. You can have SA. We need to be able to win a couple to be in with a shot.
Ireland are just so good at building phases until the trigger needs pulling. Yes, they kick a lot, but do so judiciously.

Should have been off after 50 minutes, cost us the game, along with Murray he was abjectEugene Wrayburn wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 10:14 pmLuckily rugby isn't just athletics or we'd never be much cop.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 8:42 am Looks pretty weak on the wings

Re: 6 nations
Have to agree. POM has been looking a tad old and tired. Murray (not for the first time) looked laboured, slow and took all the zip out of the Ireland attack. Hope to see JGP start with Casey on the bench next week. Ringrose back in at 13. Ireland also need a large, powerful, traditional ball carrier in the back row. Coombes should really have had a shot by now, or Timoney, who has both power and real gas. Or else - start Henderson/McCarthy in the row and play Beirne at 6.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 9:02 amShould have been off after 50 minutes, cost us the game, along with Murray he was abjectEugene Wrayburn wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 10:14 pmLuckily rugby isn't just athletics or we'd never be much cop.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 8:42 am Looks pretty weak on the wings

I don't think Coombes is an international but agree it needs 1 strong ball carrier. Mahony failed to deliver at lineout which makes him redundant
Timowney and casey to come in

I'd have thought 80 minutes of the entire team being extremely ordinary cost us the game. I'd have thought kicking from hand like drunken sailors cost us the game. But sure it's definitely 1 player's fault.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 9:02 amShould have been off after 50 minutes, cost us the game, along with Murray he was abjectEugene Wrayburn wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 10:14 pmLuckily rugby isn't just athletics or we'd never be much cop.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 8:42 am Looks pretty weak on the wings
