Big Screen Peepers
There seems to be an ever-increasing tendency for players to look for themselves on the big stadium screen during the course of a game. I suppose this self-absorbed little ego feed is pretty natural and hard to resist but you would think it would interrupt their concentration and the real-time flow of the game for them. A few players really seem to stick out in this regard and have their eyes constantly cast upwards. Maybe you have noticed them too. I wonder what coaches think of this, or do they even notice. I suppose they could call every peep a learning experience.

How can you tell that’s what they’re looking at?

One of the reasons I dislike screens in pubs is because I find it very hard to ignore them. I blame the fact that my upbringing was so middle-class that telly watching was quite regulated and it was never left on as background noise. I bet I'd be hypnotised if I was playing in a game with a big screen.

Yes. I have to admit it, I find these two week gaps in the 6N schedule boring and would like to see the tournament played on successive weekends and keeping up a head of steam (despite injury/rest concerns.)Epaminondas Pules wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 10:08 pmSlow news week?Spiffy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 5:17 pm There seems to be an ever-increasing tendency for players to look for themselves on the big stadium screen during the course of a game. While we're at it, here's another :- Will Dewi Morris ever learn how to pronounce Garbisi? He's only had several years to work on it, mind, and it does have three syllables.

Very much the same on screens in pubs - I can be having the most interesting conversation with someone, but if there's a television in my eyeline, my gaze keeps slipping back there.Mr Mwenda wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 6:18 pm One of the reasons I dislike screens in pubs is because I find it very hard to ignore them. Hoping Dewi does anything other than retire from comms is somewhat of a wasteSpiffy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 11:51 pmYes.
