Perfectly functional and generally a better combination of colours than the somewhat garish effort from last year.

I quite liked last season's. It was a very bold design and the traditionalists were up in arms but I liked it. This season's is very safe. Falls into a meh category for me tbh. There's nothing to dislike but nothing to inspire a purchase either.

Saints release a new logo and a new kit in one go. Kit is fine/quite nice. Logo, really don't understand the requirement to change the previous one and I'm really not keen.

FTFY - you just need to defy Elon Musk by changing the link from "x.com" to "twitter.com"
Explanation on the crest change is here: https://www.northamptonsaints.co.uk/new ... club-crest. Makes some kind of sense. I don't dislike the new one - it's a bit plain, but it looks cool enough.

I like it, both design and referencing the original badge.
The football team I support changed their badge this time last year. Just a minor tweak - adding a flag with est. date that took up about 2% of the area - and making it fit into the grid that the Saints video shows, and there was uproar. It was then explained that getting the badge to fit into the grid pattern makes all the digital stuff required these days so much easier and less time consuming, and leads to a far better looking final product.

One thing which sounds like I'm taking the piss, but should actually be a consideration is that that new crest is a lot easier for children to draw.
Hear me out - getting kids to be fanatical about a sports team is massive for the health an income of a club. Get 'em while they're young, like the tobacco industry. And a big part of kids obssessing over things is drawing a thousand pictures about it (cf. my office space right now). That new crest is something that kids can do - I defy you to find me a 5 year old who could do the old one from memory. Might only be a small effect, but one percenters...

Well it certainly looks like it's been done by a 5 year old so that makes sense.Puja wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 1:04 pm One thing which sounds like I'm taking the piss, but should actually be a consideration is that that new crest is a lot easier for children to draw.

I quite like that, although I think I would've preferred if we're hired a photographer who wasn't drunk to take the pictures, as it'd be easier to see.

It does look a bit like the photos were taken on a night out at the students union by a photography student who was pissed and trying to make them look arty.

Re: 2024-25 team kit announcements
New Bristol home kit has been launched:
Most shocking is that most supporters actually seem to be happy with it!
Rather reminiscent of the old (2006/7?) Bass kit to me, but am now expecting something rather flamboyant for the away kit.

Tigers announced a very retro third kit and then annoyed some of the fan base by initially allowing only season ticket holders to buy it.

You can tell the glory days of big sportswear companies doing the kits are long gone.
