Real shame for the Canadian gymnast.

And yes, been loving the white water slalom, both genders, both types.

OR by Marchand in 200m Fly - beating the reigning champ  - he's got a breaststroke final in the same evening session, which is crazy. His efficiency is something else, certainly a gift from above for the home nation at their Olympics. 🇨🇵

Jesus, took 0.4 sec off his own world record, in a pool where no one has got close to a WR

100m hasn't been beaten like that since 1976!

(Bar wiffen, but the 100m is challenged far far more than 1500m)

"Watching" the Olympic mincing - I'm delighted to see that one of the athletes seems to be wearing a neckerchief.

I play walking rugby, and one of the teams we play has someone who does speed walking - when we say "sod it, I'm full-on sprinting" we still can't catch him.

Absolute crying shame.
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Women's 4 just miss out by a whisker (0.2 s.), still a silver, but going in a favoutites will make it a tadge bitter-sweet.
Notice we've gone for NZ style strip at these games, not sure if there's any psychology in that.

How does one find the motivation to watch the 'Lympics? I'm struggling to give one.

I think it does definitely help to be in a country that goes big for it. I would struggle to pay any attention if the Brits were competing for 7th-8th in every event.

Sport climbing.

Where are the hipster events like bread grooming, craft beer brewing, and vintage bicycle repair?

Where is the Wokeathon?

Lots of medals opps today, especially in the rowing. Whatever UK rowing has done needs to be replicated across all sports, to come from the low of Tokyo to what they've achieved so far is fantastic

You were a lot more polite than I was.

Not sure if they gave too much when pulling out their lead, or they were complacent once a boat length ahead, or simply not as good as the Croats, and tactics wouldn't have made the difference.

There was a missed 'pull' you could see on the replay, deep into the last 100m, I think it ruined their finish.
