England v black ferns

Post by Mr Mwenda »

Just turned this on. Looks like the kiwis reckon they can batter the red roses. It is disrupting things but England seem to be finding a few chunks as well as making turnovers. Good contest so far.

Kiwis ace on the counter. Posing questions England aren't used to answering.

Roses look scrappy/flustered.

Yes, panicky when they should be riding the storm. Dow I'd riding to things, which has saved the bacon a couple of times.

Aitcheson is being a big testing

Nice, back to the maul. Sensible choice. Hope that calms things and gets the kiwis doubting.

Aldcroft takes a panicky yellow after poor d. Other than that I thought England were looking increasingly composed.

And another. England's concentration slipping and the ferns will have begun to believe. Irritating from a red roses point of view.

This is beginning to feel like England hanging on and maybe a power shift. Disappointing.

Setting things up very nicely for next year. Black ferns rising. England now with time to rethink and react. Gonna be a stoater..

Rats cocks. These two are going to draw big crowds whenever they play.

Over the games against France and New Zealand, England have played well in patches with many mistakes, poor individual defence (especially onthe wings), but have won reasonably comfortably, outscoring very good opposition. They have a great, young squad and will improve in all areas and the future is very bright.

Shouldnt grumble with 2 very solid wins but there have been moments during both games when we blew opportunities and let our opponents back in.
Matthews has been outstanding, Aldcroft is some athlete, Heard is our key back and the back 3 have lots of attacking threat.

They only just did half of twickenham yesterday with tickets for £25 and £5 for kids. I’m sure a decent amount of the tickets would have been gifted as well.

Long, long way to go before women’s rugby makes any money. The men’s game barely makes any money.

40,000 crowd, you mean. That's still bloody impressive, regardless of £25 tickets. There's a fair few men's international teams who'd be crying tears of joy over getting that size of crowd.

41,523 in a pre-season friendly shortly before the big tournament, and a year before the RWC, which is pretty much guaranteed to smash the current attendance record.

Women's rugby is probably closer to sustainability than men's at the moment - if "only" because it hasn't suffered the ridiculous wage inflation

40K isn't too shabby for a "friendly".
