Re: Quins Vs Tigers
Finding any random source of mitigation to make those a yellow seems to be the norm now.
Not the worst of those I’ve seen, but for someone like Kata who absolutely refuses to change his technique, what is the point of these measures?
Northmore with a typically excellent line for the try.

Just tuned in to see Kata laying out Beard. Embarrassing in four respects: the ref for not giving Kata a red (considering it's a tucked arm putting a shoulder in, it's always illegal, so mitigation is irrelevant), Kata for not changing his technique, Cheika for picking Kata and expecting him to've changed his technique, and the doctors for not taking Bear off for an HIA.
The last is most egregious - gets a shoulder to the head, then gets a knee to the head as he falls, but we've given him a quick on-field check and he **seems** fine, so I'm sure he's fine. Not like we have a whole assessment that is necessary to see if someone's had a head injury or anything.

Not sure there's any wrap in the tackle and it's just lazy. He's very lucky it's not red. Just stupid and unnecessary. OHC has made a good tackle, Kata just needs to be awake and to get in position to push him to floor and compete over the top.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 6:45 pm Finding any random source of mitigation to make those a yellow seems to be the norm now.

Main surprise for me from the first half was that Olly Cracknell and James Chisholm were the stand out backrows. Didn't see that coming.

Freddie Steward with two big hits to kill Quins overlaps so far this half. He's not rapid but when he hits you know about it.

Not sure what the TMO is looking at but that's forward. Starts behind the line and Murley catches it in front.

Feels about right to be honest with Kata’s non-red and our dubiously Kiwi passing. Odd game.
Never been impressed with Cracknell before but that was quite some carrying display.

Well that game certainly made up for some dull one sided contests so far. Brilliant end to end game.
I'm guessing the Tigers offy board is going to be incandescent over TMO incompetence but he also didn't push for the Kata red card that was probably deserved so swings and roundabouts.
Brilliant finish at the death from old man Dan Cole. It means Tigers have never won nor lost a big game against Quins. Crazy fixture.

He's normally a bit of a work horse just putting his body on the line and doing the ugly stuff but it looked like someone had strapped a nitros bottle to the tractor this weekend.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 7:47 pm Never been impressed with Cracknell before but that was quite some carrying display.

Tigers threw that away really, 14 point swing on the maul fuck up combined with the half backs coming up with brain parts in the 2nd half, kept quins in it. 1 dodgy quins try also

Tigers had three 12s in the 23 yesterday. Not going to happen.

Yeah the rolling maul fuck up was particularly painful to watch. Nothing like having a pack of mainly internationals walk over a loose ball and not notice it whilst neither does you international half back or the former international back three player who also just watches the player with the ball run past him instead of trying to make a tackle.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 9:16 pm Tigers threw that away really, 14 point swing on the maul fuck up combined with the half backs coming up with brain parts in the 2nd half, kept quins in it. 1 dodgy quins try also
We really did hand points to Quins through some really poor play at times. Brown panicking about the pace on the outside so drifting off Smith and leaving Montoya with a big gap to fill for the first try was criminal. Kata with the unnecessary high tackle gives away a 5m lineout (really nice line from Northmore, who was very good all game, to score). Then Kata doesn't roll away when he comes back on and gives Quins another easy 3 points.
Chieka didn't sound particularly happy in his post match comments. Wants Tigers to be more physical and far more clinical. Which is fair.
I've not seen it but apparently Joe Marler reckons the last Quins try was forward and they got away with one which sums that one up.

Re: Quins Vs Tigers
It was 2 yards forward. Ben youngs quick tap was the wrong decision, the commentators went about blaming the other Leicester players but no way, reffel his closest support was on his knees after the previous ruck, he'd no chanceFKAS wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:07 amYeah the rolling maul fuck up was particularly painful to watch. Oh yeah the Ben Youngs tap and go was a terrible choice. The last thing we wanted to do was up the tempo Vs Quins at that point in the game. Let Polly kick a long range three or kick it to the corner and turn the screw.paddy no 11 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:12 amIt was 2 yards forward. The yellow jarred as earlier Knight had got red in the Bath-Saracens game for a challenge remarkably similar.Puja wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 6:51 pm Just tuned in to see Kata laying out Beard. Quite why guys who have been smacked in the head dont get a HIA is an enduring anomaly.
Odd game. Some good bits and some fine tries but neither side really grabbed the game. Draw about right all in all.

How did Henderson go? I imagine it will take him a while to get up to speed after that long out.

Re: Quins Vs Tigers
He's been doing alright. His first appearance off the bench was quite impressive with a couple of physical inputs either side of the ball. Was quieter Vs Quins. Linked up well with Steward's break to help set up position for the Kata try but also fumbled the ball at the rolling maul from which Quins broke and scored. He's doing alright but I'd agree he won't be back to his best just yet.
Could make it to the Scotland squad for the 6N especially as it seems Gray is out injured. Just needs to keep getting game time.
