Bayliss may have the top speed of a winger, but not the acceleration, dexterity or instincts

The positional play is where he's going to be most found out. You can have all the physical attributes of a good winger, but without playing there regularly it's not second nature where to be whenWhich Tyler wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 3:40 pm Bayliss may have the top speed of a winger, but not the acceleration, dexterity or instincts

I was about to say the ref called the wrong offence - but he was right, never held in the tackle, so allowed to crawl.
Just not allowed to keep hold of the ball once actually tackled.

That's a lot of what I was meaning by "instincts"
Pepper looking very uncomfortable in the stands - though may have been grimacing about the play

It’s round that time that England will start getting a load of injuries. Looks like wing may be the position this year. IFW, sleightholme, Muir and Hendy all injured here.
Worst thing about it is that it will mean zero chance of Freeman playing 13.

RR: can't play Lawrence at 12, or Marcus at 15 as they just don't play there.
Also RR: why isn't Borthwick playing 12. Steward, 13. Freeman, it's just so obvious.

That's surely crossing? He's infront of the ball carrier when the collision with Dingwall happens

Since when is running upright, whilst inside, foul play?
ETA, rightly dismissed by the ref.

Errr. What now?
He's behind the ball carrier until approximately 1/10 of a second before the head contact, because the ball carrier is tackled and has his momentum taken away

He's obstructed Dingwall in tackling Lawrence, whilst being in front of Lawrence. That is crossing.

After the tackle had been made, and whilst he was unconscious, you mean?
Because he was behind Lawrence until OL had been tackled

The tackle wasn't completed at the time the crossing occurred

At what point do you want him to step outside the laws of physics?
Or is your complaint that he should have had better control of the way he fell whilst unconscious?
ETA, sorry everyone else. I'll leave this conversation now, it's obvious that neither of us are going to convince the other.

This must be some sort of record for HIAs in a single game.

Should Mitchell have defied the laws of physics to get out of the way of Lawrence there? Fouls can be committed by players being in the wrong place at the wrong time

Thank God, we needed that win. Quality game. Shame about the injuries all round.

Am very glad Saints won that. That was a terrible decision to yellow Mitchell, given it was exactly the same a s the Coetzee head contact except the runner was given the pass, and I can't help but feel that Lawrence went down like a footballer to deliberately make sure he got the penalty.

What we're bath doing, playing at a restart that was dropping short and would have been a scrum back and then giving away a penalty in front of the posts when the ref is shouting at you NO

I find Lawrence a bit unlikeable. Laughing as Hendy went off injured after his late tucked arm tackle was a bellend move too.Puja wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 4:56 pm Am very glad Saints won that. With all the recent back 3 injuries for England, Bailey didn't do himself any harm during that game. Positionally very good.
