A good first half, leading 17-0 but should have got two tries more but Goosen and Darcy got white line fever and didn’t pass to the supporting player. The usual 2nd half malaise gave Lions a wee sniff but Price’s try settled the nerves. Douglas got about 10 minutes at the end and almost immediately won a penalty. Everitt needs to give him a start.

Given the choice of Bayonne or Bulls in the quarter I think I’d prefer Bayonne.

Bad news for Edinburgh but at least both VdM and Sykes will be fit for the summer tours.

For DVDM the question is, which tour? Given the injury he might not make the Lions tour. If he doesn’t but he’s fit I’d give him a rest from the Scotland tour.

Douglas should be starting. Especially as Ritchie is playing very well on the other flank it's as low risk an introduction as we could want.

Does it feel to you that this is a proper turnaround or just a short term uplift?

It’s not yet a turnaround. They have to overcome their tendency to drift out of a game when they are well ahead before I’d say it was a turnaround. Also, the improvements have come when the internationals are back, they don’t have the depth to cover their absence when those players are away or are on a compulsory rest.

Finally, a mention for Javan Sebastian. This was by some distance the best I’ve seen him play.

sure he's had some injury issues. Sebastian isn't Fagerson standard but he is a good TH. Would have made a huge difference in the 6N if he had been fit instead of Hurd (who got monstered by Glasgow when he came on).Not just scrummaging but all round play is a level above Hurd, Miller-Mills
