i was just coming to post the same thing.

I have severe doubts that my brother would have helped me; he'd certainly echo Ali's comments " I wish the flippin' idiot had paced it right and crossed the finish line first. "

It's not a team sport. Fully understandable and fair.

I was watching thinking why won't he just let the poor bugger get some medical attention but the Brownlees competetiveness is a bit legendary. Alastair said in the interview afterwards that there wasn't any medical people there but they were right next to the water bottles and he didn't even let him take a drink.

Much as I admire the brotherly love, I'm not sure why it's allowed? Surely the whole point is to see who crosses the line first under their own steam?
It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I think they allow assistance from other competitors only, no outside help. If they didn't then during the cycling and running to a lesser extent they couldn't allow drafting, which isn't going to happen. The only way to be certain that the competitors complete the race under entirely there own steam is a time trial format.

A story of two people ending in tragedy - it's a bit like Romeo & Juliette.

That guy that came 1st because the brownlees were helping each other basically got some money for nothing.
