Daft question; if he gets caught from the kick, would he be out? Or does the ball hitting the ground after getting the bottom edge make it safe?

Batsman got a big bottom edge and the ball seemed to be heading straight for the stumps but he managed to sort his footwork out and booted the ball away.Lizard wrote:"Content not available on this device." What happened exactly?WaspInWales wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/37431950

You can't be caught after the ball has hit the ground.WaspInWales wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/37431950

Had he edged into his boot it'd still be live.

How about a different scenario where a batsman is facing spin bowling and gets bamboozled by a delivery. He doesn't make contact with the ball by his bat but kicks the ball away to stop it hitting the stumps and the ball is caught before it hits the ground?

With the usual caveats. Just to add that the catching of the ball would be irrelevant in that scenario.Mellsblue wrote:Lbw.WaspInWales wrote:Cheers WT, I thought as much.Which Tyler wrote: You can't be caught after the ball has hit the ground.

It'll be fascinating to see how tempting a run chase Middlesex decide to leave.bruce wrote:Here's hoping in rains in London tomorrow!

Agreed, though Yorks. better placed for a win to give them the title.
3 the magic number for them - would be 3 on the bounce & number 33 in total.
Hard to believe Middx. haven't been champs for 23 yrs. & Somerset 1 of 3 counties with a bagel against their name.....so hope it's a draw!

Middx could bat the Yorkies almost out of it knowing they'd have to chase no matter how ridiculous the target of they want to win. I'm praying for the draw now that Surrey are out of it and have avoided relegation.Galfon wrote:Agreed, though Yorks. better placed for a win to give them the title.

Ok, theorizing further...what if the ball wasn't going to hit the stumps and it was kicked away and then caught?Mellsblue wrote:Lbw.WaspInWales wrote:Cheers WT, I thought as much.Which Tyler wrote: You can't be caught after the ball has hit the ground.

Then nothing happens, just the same as a ball clipping a pad on its way through to the keeper.WaspInWales wrote:Ok, theorizing further...what if the ball wasn't going to hit the stumps and it was kicked away and then caught?Mellsblue wrote:Lbw.WaspInWales wrote:

What if he did a few keepy-ups, then smashed a stunning overhead kick through the covers for 4 then ran up and down the wicket celebrating with his jumper pulled over his face?

Unfortunately forecast is fine. How many coded telephone warnings from the Somerset area do you think Lords will get today?

Does anyone know if they have opened up Taunton to supporters to give them a chance of making some cash and sharing the potential glory?
