Ranfurly Shield: Waikato v Canterbury
Waikato taking their chances so far but Canterbury look ominously good. 12-13.
Not sure which moron scheduled this for a Wednesday night, but it's a poor crowd.
Also, Waikato has been playing Canterbury for decades with no problems. So why is Canterbury wearing a horrible alternate strip tonight.
Ah fuck it: 12-20
Damn

You want to see a horrible alternate strip?
P.S. Yes I bought one because it's on sale right now.
P.P.S. I regret nothing.

I saw that on telly and wondered what the hell was going on. It's like the old "ugly" jerseys from the '90s.cashead wrote:You want to see a horrible alternate strip?

Looks like it was tacked together from spare pieces of cloth from other jerseys.
So Cunterbury has the Shield again. Who gets to challenge? Anyone before the end of the current season?

If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

Solid workman like performance by the looks of things. I assume any home games will be challenges automatically for Canterbury. (note the spelling Rowan, your slight will be seen as a victory by all cantabs, we love it when others cry).

Does Wellington get a challenge in? It would be nice to have the Log resting alongside the Super Rugby cup in the trophy cabinet

The color scheme is reminiscent of licorice allsorts.

No. Wellington cannot have a challenge this season.
Unless the rules have changed, all Canterbury home games will be challenges other than play-offs. But that's only North Harbour on 7 Oct.
If Harbour win (ha ha, fat chance) then they also will have only one defence - Tasman on 12 Oct.
If Tasman win, then they will have to see off Southland only 4 days later. There would be be no more challenges this season after that.
