The Moss Side Fencing team withdrew from the Olympics due to a misunderstanding .

Because there's only one Mjölnir, so 2 people could only fight over it. Besides, if any mortal could use it, I'd want some drug testing done stat.

It's getting silly now. The IOC has provisionally recognised muaythai (ok, but now there's already boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo and 2 types of wrestling) and....

...cheerleading. I shit you not.

Presumably, they can at least run cheerleading at the same time as some other sport, basketball perhaps, which the contestants can actually cheer for.

Does cheerleading differ that much from say synchronised swimming or say gymnastics in how they set about scoring the event?

I still think squash should be in the Olympics and I'm not convinced that football, golf and tennis should be there. And I still wonder why there are so many weight categories in boxing and weightlifting and so on, but only one height category in the high jump. But the Olympics just run was very successful with plenty to watch and some tinkering will not change that.
