I've already stated elsewhere that I think MB has the potential to become one of the best 13s in the world and I view this move as a detrimental to that development. Re: Hodge's Heroes
Have there been any rumours about who a new coach could be? It's vital they invent some new ideas and belief and someone who'll make it feel like a fresh start next season.
There have been a few inprovements in ambition under Hodge but not much. I suspect if they were convinced by him it would have been done by now anyway

Should have got in there for Blackadder.
I appreciate that isn't a hugely constructive comment.

Cockerill seems to be doing the rounds, but they need a good skills coach.

Re: Hodge's Heroes
The Scotland set up looks really promising for the years to come. Hopefully it will deliver.
We now have:
- two decent coaches ready to take over next year for the professional Clubs.
-Two smaller stadiums for each club.
-2 Clubs are in their respective European 1/4 finals.
-Scotland has not been trashed in a While.
-A decent set up for scouting and developing younger players.
-a multitude of hybrid pitches all around Scotland.
SRU has done a very good job!

It's Cockers' Champions!
Pleased with the appointment. Will be interesting to see if the current coaches really do hang around after the season has finished.
SRU do appear to have done well here. Beating Wales would be another step forward!

I hate to say this, but at least two of those above fall smack into the area that the Fat Bluffer is responsible for.Adder wrote:The Scotland set up looks really promising for the years to come. Hopefully it will deliver.

Re: Hodge's Heroes
So the article quotes:
“The conversations I had with Mark Dodson and Scott Johnson were instrumental in understanding what the vision for Edinburgh Rugby is and it is a project I’m excited to be a part of."
Which suggests the CEO in Petrie is responsible for stuff like sponsors and stadium move etc not appointing head coaches.
“I’d like to thank Duncan Hodge for all his hard work with the club so far and look forward to him continuing to contribute to Edinburgh Rugby.”
"Cockerill will retain Stevie Scott and Pete Wilkins as assistant coaches."
So is Hodge leaving at the end of the season? Who will be backs coach?
What will Scotts remit be? Set piece?
The embra defence has been poor this year. Wilkins might be a bit lucky there.

Being a serial wage thief wherever he has been without adding any obvious value. It appears on the surface that as DoR he may actually be doing a good job.Adder wrote:I'm fairly innocent on these matters. I'm pretty sure I saw that on the Edinburgh website, he will return to his previous position. They did say that in Rugbyrama as well.Big D wrote:So the article quotes:

Hmm... not sure that's enough of a coaching change really. The backs haven't shown a huge amount since Hodge arrived.Adder wrote:I'm pretty sure I saw that on the Edinburgh website, he will return to his previous position. They did say that in Rugbyrama as well.Big D wrote:So the article quotes:

That's true but you'd think Hodge as a former 10 should be able to help Weirs game.Adder wrote:Playing behind SHC and Weir isn't easy.Big D wrote:Hmm... not sure that's enough of a coaching change really. The backs haven't shown a huge amount since Hodge arrived.Adder wrote:

I'm not as positive as some on this. He's an upgrade and I'd expect Edinburgh to improve anyway but not that exciting especially with Hodge staying. Might well do a good job, just waiting to be convinced. Good they have it finalised anyway

Right now the only thing stopping Edinburgh being bottom is the Italian teams, thats a hell of a drop from HEC 1/2 finalists to bottomCameo wrote:I'm not as positive as some on this. Cockerill may not mak Ed a top 4 team but he could make them a top 6
