Harbour beats Northland 31-22. Really great second half, and it really doesn't do the Taniwha justice. Tough break for them to not get something out of this game.

Jeez there's a lot to like about this Northland team. Well done Harbour, but even knowing the final score that intercept was a heart breaker. Great game, if you can be bothered, send that avator over Cas, you know I'd do it.
I love provincial rugby when the smaller teams are competitive.

Canterbury, who have looked absolutely invincible up until this point, are getting rocked by Wellington at the Caketin.

If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

Canterbury just lost their first game of the season after looking so ominous. They don't lose often, but when they do, they get 60 put on them.

Wow, 60-14 Wellington! I thought 31-14 was the final score. So maybe the reports will come up shortly.
The scoreline must have set a few records, surely . . .

That Wellington hooker Asafo Aumua is a freakish talent. Reminiscent of Hika Reid - but possibly even better!

So apparently Rodney So'oialo has been assistant coach for Wellington. He's almost unrecognisable without his dreds.

Wellington again rampant, 34-10 over the Mooloos. The boys better make it back into the top league for season.

With Wellington up next week Northland really need to put Hawke's Bay away tonight. I'm staying up to watch the game, found some brownies in the freezer at the cottage, should be fun.

Re: 2017 Mitre 10 Cup
Auckland somehow stay in the Premiership, as Waikato are relegated after losing to BOP. The downside is that this result means we've lost our best prospect of seeing playoff rugby at Eden Park.

Nic White is also gone. That alone would make it a successful season for mine. Removing him while avoiding relegation is a nice bonus, mind.

Re: 2017 Mitre 10 Cup
Play-offs are:
Premiership
Taranaki (1) vs Tasman (4) - Yarrow Stadium, New Plymouth
Canterbury (2) vs North Harbour (3) - AMI Stadium, Christchurch
Championship
Wellington (1) vs Northland (4) - Westpac Stadium, Wellington
Bay of Plenty (2) vs Otago (3) - Tauranga Domain, Tauranga
I obviously have a lot of investment in the Premiership semifinal, and my Harbour BOYZ playing Canterbury on their patch does make me nervous. That said, the regular season has shown that these 4 teams can beat each other on any given day, with the Naki taking the Shield off of Canterbury and then being given a thorough hiding from Harbour, Tasman beating Harbour in Albany but only after being on the wrong end of a Cantabrian beat-down earlier on, etc.
In the Championship, BoP are the ones I have some investment in, since I now live in in Steamers country. If things go according to form, Wellington should walk this one fairly comfortably, with their only loss coming in a cross-over match against Tasman after a 4-day turnaround from their previous game. But, we all know what happens to Wellington in knock-out games, don't we?

Re: 2017 Mitre 10 Cup
Yes, Wellington could well screw it up, given their history. They were lucky to scrape by Otago in the regular season, weren't they? That could be a potential banana skin on a wet day in the final...

Can't see anything other than a Northland promotion this time around. Wellington were lucky to get away with the last one, shouldn't happen again. From there only BOP or Otago to beat, easy frickin peasy.

Re: 2017 Mitre 10 Cup
Wellington will give Northland an almighty spanking, as per usual, then get a little complacent for (probably) Otago in the final and somehow manage to screw it up. They don't call us the 'England' of New Zealand provincial rugby for nothing...

Who is the "England of NZ rugby"?
