Never let it be said that I died wondering. I've just sold Wade to make cash for SSocino and DTH Van Der Merwe and put Itoje to the bench to accomodate Witty. All on black this week apparently...

Wade is on the at risk column for me, but then so is Roko. Just think I might be able to get more reliable players in their places. I know who my next target in the backs is, not cheap though. Then the forwards are trundling along fairly well, injury/internationals may leave me struggling.

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
My mistake was assembling a big squad to begin with. I mainly went for solid performers rather than superstars, thinking that I'd covered all bases but it hasn't worked out that way so far.
I'm definitely less vulnerable to test call-ups but I wish I could trim the fat without costing myself a load of points!
Like Puja, I have quite a bit on black this weekend with 4 Falcons, 3 Chiefs and a Saracen in my starting XV.
I feel a bit disloyal picking 3 Saints and only Marchant on the bench, but the side we're sending to FG is the worst I've seen in a long time ...

Sounds like the same as me (albeit you're ahead of me in the table by some distance). My squad is far too big but it's just not worth it to release some of the players that I picked up hoping that they'd be bargins. Here's hoping that the autumn internationals change everything.Scrumhead wrote:My mistake was assembling a big squad to begin with. There's not been as big a shift in the prices as I'd expected. I mean you can still get people like Simmonds very cheaply, despite him being one of the top scorers in the game. I was expecting a lot more flux.

It seems there was a massive flux early on that has now stopped.
I've taken the 20 point hit and made two changes, getting rid of Maunder and Holmes for DTH.

I keep wondering whether or not to pull the twenty point trigger. I have so much Deadwood in the squad at the moment. At the moment I've got a 7 week, so I should go into December with the squad I want and some money in the bank for the SN. A couple more injuries and/or some unfortunately timed squad rotation could completey screw it up though.Peej wrote:It seems there was a massive flux early on that has now stopped.

This week, like Puja, I've doubled down on Newcastle. Made Takalka my captain and kicker. So I'll know by kind whether or not I'll have a good week.

Here's a question - you get one free transfer out each week, right? Does that include European and AWC weeks where no point-scoring games are going on?bitts wrote:I keep wondering whether or not to pull the twenty point trigger. I believe it's once a fixed lineup, so only AP fixtures.
Brits apparently out of the Sarries fixture. Bugger, was hoping he'd score big.

You're telling me! I'd made him bloody captain!Raggs wrote:I believe it's once a fixed lineup, so only AP fixtures.

Ouch! Very smart choice for captain btw, I was tempted myself, but decided that I'd combine my captain and kicker, in the hopes to eek out a few more points, not sure I'll get the 90+ points of last week out of my captain, but hope he'll do well.Stom wrote:You're telling me! Crap, so I'm playing with 14 this week. Still, only marginally worse than starting Buchanan last week.Raggs wrote:I believe it's once a fixed lineup, so only AP fixtures.

He was my first week captain. And had a stormer. Pretty much whenever he plays nowadays, he has a stormer.Raggs wrote:Ouch! Didn't do so badly in the end. Good scores for Curry, Woodward and, especially, Solomona, while Takalua did ok.

Taklua as kicker and captain netted me 70+ points, helped with Brits a bit.

256 points last night isn't a bad haul. I went for Lozowski as kicker rather than Takulua thinking Sarries would thump Worcester, but not a bad start to this round.
I still have 6 starters and 6 subs yet to play, so I'm hoping for some decent points this week. I'm already planning ahead on my transfers too

I had Takula on the bench. Another piss poor decision on my part

I was sure Sale -glos was going to be a boring low score Friday night game. So Denny went to the bench. May have been an error too.Peej wrote:I had Takula on the bench. Another piss poor decision on my part
Still, 189 points with 11 starters left, so could be worse.

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
My only real frustration from last night was not selecting the right captain. I went for Wilson thinking that he always scores well and might also pick up a try or two. He did score reasonably well, but I wish I'd gone with my gut and gone for Solomona!
I picked Marchant on my bench instead of James too, but hopefully he can match James' try-scoring performance.

It seems that, if you're going to have to lose 2 players from you line up, Genge and Britz were pretty good ones to lose as everyone else had them too!

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
Yeah - I thought that too. I don't have Brits but I consoled myself with the fact that most people had Genge and a lot of props seem to score under 10 points per game anyway (Koch's 88 on day one is a long way from his 3 last night).
I only have 3 subs left to play this week, but looking at our table and the lineups of the teams above and below me, I'll have moved up a spot or two on last week so I think this week will turn out to have been a moderate success.
