To cap off a good week for National, they have just been successfully sued by Eminem for NZ600K over copyright breach in a campaign add from 2014.

Way to get down with the kids. Steal the song of a rapper, who turned 42 in 2014. Was he the youngest performing artist they had heard of?

Shit-hot. Is science about to make a comeback in the primary sector after 8 years of free market sodomy by vested cowboys?

Pretty sure I read somewhere that National were sued under the very onerous copyright law they introduced. Would be a delicious morsel of irony if that is indeed the case.

That would be funny. I would be interested to hear Lizard's opinion on this case, as I think it's pretty much in and around his area of legal expertise. It sort of seems to me that if you purchase music from a third-party supplier that specialises in selling music, then you'd have a reasonable right to expect that it wouldn't infringe copyright. I guess this decision indicates that the law says the end-user is ultimately responsible for compliance.

If anyone chances upon Don Brash in the street, could you please kick him in the nuts for me? Ta.
