Stats....territory, tackles mad/missed, etc was pretty even for most of the game. Big diff was Italy falling off first up tackles. Which was a pretty big diff, to be fair.

Didnt manage to see all the game but there were some good moments and tries.
Our scrum looked good, so well done Genge and Big Joe was a right handful. Kruis seemed to have a tremendous all round game.

Big worry was our wide defence- we gave up a ton of easy yards. Oh and kicking too much. Sinckler and Billy included.

both, we were again bested on possession (40/60) because kicking has become something of a default, we give the ball away too much. Obviously it didn't cost us in this game, but....it did against Wales and ended up tiring us out having to both chase and then defend so much.

Pleased for Kruis. Biggest cheer was to see Youngs and Farrell yanked followed by Italy scoring in the corner as our centres went awol and May tackling a doctor

Looking forward to Wilson getting back the 6 shirt and working in tandem with Curry next week.

Will that happen now Shields has scored two easy tries? Personally I’m worried that’s all he needed to leapfrog Wilson ...

Wilson has been consistently good, including the tougher matches.EJ clearly has Shields in his plans, so would expect him to play him again for his 'combinations' / 'options' reasonings..so long as his decision making doesn't become clouded for the RWC.

Somewhat taken aback by how passive our defence seemed to be, allowing Italy easy metres. Our ‘dominat’ Tackles must have been really low. Probably about the same number as the number of missed tackles by Youngs

Think the forwards did a fair few 'dominant' tackles, but we gave them uber easy yards in the backs. I blame Teo . I suspect the 'intensity' was a mental thing, as in 'don't have to try too hard against this lot'. Could also be that Eddie beasted them in training, that's been the excuse posited before when we have dropped off.

I thought Big Joe was very slow to push up once Italy moved the ball wide and it became clear they weren’t going to kick into the back field. Couple of times it looked like Manu and Farrell were gesticulating to him along the lines of ‘where the f were you’.

A lot less double tackles I thought too. Maybe we thought we would be so dominant physically we didn’t want/need to commit the extra defenders.

We also align really weirdly sometimes in first phase defence. Feel like we are almost happy to give some teams yards on the outside as long as we stop them kicking deep. Or something. I don’t really know what we’re looking to achieve defending first phase sometimes.

aye, that's the badger I was referring to on May's wing, but they did it three times from memory. Its a general sign of pre-planning being fckd up by reality

Would all the GP teams beat Italy? Just trying to rationalise the post-match analysis. I certainly think we could pick a second 23 to expect to beat their present team.

The step up from club to international rugby is actually really high. I reckon the top teams could manage, but I think most of the Premiership teams would lose.
