Farrell was certainly better than he has been. Not sure that means I wouldn’t go back to the previous midfield next week though.
I wouldn't but whatever Jones does I won't argue. It's the knock-out stage. Winning is all.
I’m not arguing about whether it’s pretty or not, but I think we can get more out of the midfield.
And yep, that was the sixiest performance I’ve seen from Curry.

Incredibly happy with that. To score 4 and only concede 1 is very satisfying.

Indeed. Particularly considering the opposition. He is developing in to a truly top class flanker regardless of what number he’s wearing.

Can we arrange a training injury, a couple of weeks should do it, for Daly.

I was more impressed with Faz than Youngs. Some great covering tackles from Faz in that game, good conversions too. Ford showed him how to kick to the corner though. It's the behind-the-head man and ball passes to forwards that annoy me most about Youngs. I may well be wrong in my assessment of him in this game but I'd have to see it back. Better than the usual fare though so that's something. That snipe was a shock to the system.

Fair play to Eddie, Undercurry is working well, love watching them tear about.

Daly easily our worst player today. I'd like to see Manu more involved, Kerevi showed him how to play 12. Cracking win though against an Aussie team that came to give it their best shot.

Surprised that a) it was so comfy and b) it felt like england still had some cards to play if needed.

England could only eat who was put in front of them, but Australia certainly helped England win.
The Wallabies seemed to be mostly devoid of ideas on attack beyond one-off runners that were constantly getting knocked back, and I honestly couldn’t tell you what their game plan was other than apparently
Step 1: One-off runners
Step 2: Take it into contact
Step 3: ????
Step 4: PROFIT
What was even more hilarious was the fact that England’s second try came from the one time Australia should have just taken it into contact. Instead, they forced a pass, sent it straight into May’s hands and welp.
Beasties wrote:Cracking win though against an Aussie team that came to give it their best shot.
Bro, if that was the Wallabies’ best shot, then Australian rugby is in even bigger trouble than I thought they were.

Quality performance. Cunderhill outclassed Pooper, both were really great. Lawes was all over the pitch. Farrell had one of his better game for England, particularly good in his scramble defence - although I'd certainly revert to Ford, Farrell Tuilangi for the semi to have Ford on the pitch (not that Slade was bad). As others have said, Daly again looked like the weak link, and I'd be very tempted to put out a back 3 of May, Watson and Nowell/Coka

Happy with that.
Im worried about the possession stat: 65% to Aus. We won't be able to give NZ or Ireland that much ball to run back at us next week

Good win despite Daly's best efforts.
John Mitchells stock rises ever higher.
Great defensive display, organisation, execution, weight of tackle, commitment, conditioning, fitness.
Poor Daly was out of position at least twice (where it was obvious), did an embarrassing airy fairy flap into touch, and juggled a missfield going forward - which did look difficult to be fair. He also got under a high ball on a chace but failed to dominate the contact and did not provide enough challenge to claim the ball.
I cannot recall any of his intelligent out side break type running to put in the plus side of his ledger.
I think Watson has to play 15 next week, even if Daly goes to the wing. Coka and Nowell on stand by.
Otherwise - very good.
The scrum came through, although looking like an area our next opponents may attack. I think George took a bang on his neck early but soldiered on.

Let’s not get too carried away by that. Apart from a couple of small breaks, Aus were pretty useless.
Cheika got it all wrong and this isn’t a very good team, either.
But I thought some things worked really well.
We absolutely murdered them up front, great call on Lawes and Curry.

Hard to judge, I think both teams were trying to force a change in tactics from the other with their relentless kicking/counter-attacking. I doubt we’d see it play out that way again, but I’d like to think we have a plan for actually building some phases when we need to.

I'm very happy with that. We bossed that game from pretty much first to last. The forwards were superb. Curry was again brilliant. George not that far behind and Sinckler is developing into a formidable player now that his scrummaging is rapidly improving.
The backs were not an unqualified success, though the 2 wings looked good.
I like the togetherness of this team and their commitment to each other. They look a tight group.

I think we can at least allow ourselves some degree of satisfaction at getting to the semi's
Whether we will be the rwc winners, or the best team in last 4 - its a decent place to be.

Good performance from England today, you lot must be pretty happy?
Australia did play into your hands on occasions but that was traditional English power nullifying the Aussies.
Looking forward to your game vs the All Blacks next weekend.

We used Manu pretty well when we had the ball. Several good runs back on the angle to get us over the gain line. He was quite poor in defence though, where Slade had to compensate a few times.

As an aside Farrell made 17 tackles today. That’s seriously impressive. Still missed three, but forgivable with those figures and to be fair your going to miss more Vs a team like Aus.

The epitome of what is wrong with English rugby, getting excited about how many tackles our 10 made. Don’t get me wrong, he played well, and that pass to Sinckler was a beauty, but getting excited by a high tackle count by a 10 is wrong headed.

I’m not getting excited by it, it’s just impressive that’s all. What’s wrong with that? Are we not allowed to praise something that is praiseworthy?
