Re: Hodge's Heroes
Stade awarded five points and Timisoara fined €30,000. Mike Adamson was the ref. Have to say based on only pictures the pitch didn't look too bad.
This happens even at club level in Scotland and the referees are put in a no win situation. It could have been Nigel Owens, Wayne Barnes or Mike Adamson it wouldn't have mattered because as soon as one team (usually the away team) says it is unplayable the ref cannot make the other team play.
Where the level of experience of the ref may have made a difference is in communicating with ERC and an experienced opinion may be listened to more than a fairly new ref at that level.

Didn't realise that Timisoara actually requested AWAY games in Jan well in advance as they knew the weather would be god-awrful. Stade were the only club to refuse.
Adamson doesn't have any control over that, nor can he consider it when making his decision but the big governing bodies should have taken this into account.

To be honest I'd have been tempted to start Scholes. Has scored loads for Gala. I would assume this lot are only a slight step up.

I feel like Bryce has a lot of promise, is there any glaring reason he hasn't had more time than Kinghorn doing well? Is Kinghorn likely to get much time at 10 or is he a full time fullback now?

Re: Hodge's Heroes
I believe Bryce was signed with a view to being the starting FB and he's certainly good enough. However, I don't think anyone at Edinburgh envisaged Kinghorn developing so quickly - he's made the shirt his own. Not that VC appears to have noticed....Mikey Brown wrote:I feel like Bryce has a lot of promise, is there any glaring reason he hasn't had more time than Kinghorn doing well? Re: Hodge's Heroes
So if Huw Jones goes to Glasgow are we expecting one of their centres to be sent over to us? We'll probably end up with Vernon. If Jones is available, why the f@ck aren't we trying to sign him?

It's up to Petrie to extract the digit and make offers to players like Jones etc. I hope he hasn't taken his eye off the ball with the move to Myreside etc.Chunks Baws wrote:So if Huw Jones goes to Glasgow are we expecting one of their centres to be sent over to us? Hope Huw doesn't come and stays in SA, its a shame for the 6N that he will be in his off season but come the autumn his skills are sharper as he has been playing summer rugby does south

Re: Hodge's Heroes
I can't imagine he'll be short of offers around Europe. Given they are skint I am not sure SA teams will pony up for a player who is now capped for Scotland and possibly miss 4/5 weeks of the Super Rugby season.whatisthejava wrote:Hope Huw doesn't come and stays in SA, its a shame for the 6N that he will be in his off season but come the autumn his skills are sharper as he has been playing summer rugby does south

Would like to but can't.
Just noticed that "co-captain" Gilchrist has lost his captaincy.

Re: Hodge's Heroes
Glasgow have 5 centres ooc, if Jones comes in then that probably means Bennett would be leaving, likely for France maybe England. He's bound to be on a big wage and they want the same shirt for club and country. Can't see Johnson or Grigg leaving, neither will be big earners and Johnson may want to become SQ (if the rules don't change). Vernon has been crocked a long time, any contract he gets will be a drop on what's he's currently on, if he gets a decent offer elsewhere I wouldn't blame him for taking it. Plus that would leave a bit more space for Paddy Kelly etc to work their way into the team.Chunks Baws wrote:So if Huw Jones goes to Glasgow are we expecting one of their centres to be sent over to us? Maybe you are/were trying to sign Jones (it's still just a rumour after all), you probably have the money but why would he want to join embra?

would be a brilliant signing for Edinburgh and maybe would give him more opportunity to shine
He has been a bit quite since the World Cup but he is still world class
