In the past I've been accepting of the fact we were shit - because we were shit. It's infuriating at the moment because I really do think these guys have the potential to be beating Ireland, Wales, France and maybe even England on a regular basis.

I think Toony really needs to look at getting a sports psychologist into the camp on a full time basis. Or something like that. I don't recall the minute but if you recall Earls gathering a kick in an almost identical position to Seymour/Maitland - he scurried into touch. Ireland may get outplayed once in a while but they RARELY make poor decisions - they know how to take the correct percentage play. Our decision making is just miles and miles behind the other top sides.

Sure, on our day it comes off and we carve teams open and put a huge scoreline on them but then there's days like this. There is no happy medium.

Jeez, you lot are negative. That was the medium, albeit not the happy medium. Compete with the second best team in the world but not ultimately play well enough to win.

I'm gutted too but I dont think that you'd be happy that there was a plan unless we were consistently winning every game. Your plan involves having a god given right to win and other teams not allowed to be good.

I don't have a plan but I sure as hell can see there's something psychologically wrong with the camp. Under NO condition is throwing a loose, pop pass on your own 5m line with green shirts raring down on you the correct decision.

Yes. Stu Mac, both locks, Ritchie, Russell, Strauss and Johnson were superb. Kinghorn could have gotten pass marks but he really needs to hit the line at pace when he runs it back - he might just break through.

The starting props, Bhatti. Seymour, Bhatti and the scrummies wouldm't have looked out of place in a minis game. Awful.

And the main point I'm trying to make is this "medium" is ineffective in knockout rugby. A high risk, high reward game plan should only be utilised against teams we have virtually no chance against- NZ, SA and yes probably Ireland also.

Jesus, £154 for two tickets to that shit. My youngest, press-ganged into going with me, looked at me with her biggest blue eyes at about the 60 minute mark and asked "are they still playing daddy?" I couldn't honestly answer that I'd seen any rugby recently. We left before the end.

VC made us hard to beat but we were pretty toothless in attack. Now we have an excellent attack but are ridiculously easy to figure out & defeat.

I don't know what to think really.

I disagree about being toothless in attack.

When OHalloran came on board we started to show a clear attacking shape. In VCs last 2 6N we scored 122 points. Higher than we did last 6N.

That coaching set up was gelling quite nicely.

It was a yellow. A cynical, off the ball elbow to a player chasing a kick. Just happened to injure our best player and lead directly to a try for them, but that's the way it is. Not worth the TMO's time I suppose.

I don't see how anybody could question that it was absolutely intentional. He's very good at what he does, but jesus christ I hate O'Mahoney. He's one of the pioneers of that recent bout of 'tackle the men about to support the ball carrier' thing isn't he?

You do what you can to win in the modern game, but if there were too many more like him the game wouldn't be worth watching at all.

Anyway. Just like last year we made plenty enough opportunities to win that, despite being incredibly inaccurate. I guess you can spin that a couple of ways.

I'm too tired of these issues we had today to expand on them. Props, Wilson, Laidlaw, Jones etc. doing the same dumb shit we've seen before. Seymour really was a bit of a spaz as well.

That’s about the size of it for me. Ireland were a poor shadow of themselves, but we played frantic, stupid Rugby at times, and predictable Rugby by numbers at others.
The opportunity to win this was there, but we never looked close to taking it.
