I love Curry, think he's almost certainly (with Jack Willis out) the best flanker in England, and possibly the best for a long old time. But, from a leadership point of view, he does have a certain amount of Lewis Moody about him. Not sure I'd trust him to pull his head out of every other ruck and manage the ref.
It's still Itoje for me. And I'm quite happy for him to get the captaincy with the caveat to reign himself in a bit, especially seeing as we've got someone like Curry tearing it up anyway. Most of his pens were 'playing on the edge' types rather than Hill's just being a dopey fecker, and I think he can manage that part of his game. Ford is another option I'd have a lot of time for, but I fear that's never going to happen with Farrell around... also with or without Faz we do need to blood new 10's, even if they're only for the bench.

I just can’t stomach the idea of Curry doing the press conferences after he did it post-Ireland.

Ah, was it bad? I never watch (or listen to) the peripheral stuff before, during HT or after the game.

It was an improvement on Farrell's three variations of "we knew they'd be tough but we werked 'ard and made Dad proud/didn't quite go the way we wanted it to". And he seemed like he was chucked in at the deep end, nothing prepared

Yeah Farrell is bloody annoying in a bland Steven Gerrard kind of way, but Curry was a bit "sorry what was the question? I was busy staring into space waiting for when I can get back to bants with the lads".

Very much this. He was only doing it because Farrell was off with a head knock. I assume Itoje was indisposed too.

Though it would be very much this board's MO to now decide he's not captain material off the back of a bad TV interview he didn't know he had to do 20 minutes earlier.

I just had to dig this up to check I remembered correctly. I don’t remember any of the rest of the interview, just this particular moment. From supreme confidence to rabbit in the headlights in the space of 3 seconds.

This moment made me wince.

Maybe he was just staring in to space I suppose, but I’m not sure that’s much better.

Ford would be the ideal captain for me, and indeed has been for several years now, but he needs a specialist 12 outside him and I'm afraid that OF is not that player. However, all of what we think on this board counts for nowt when Eddie worships the ground that Farrell walks on.

TBF, it's not an easy task for your first press conference as a leader - "Defend these 6N results." Frankly, I couldn't give a monkeys about his ability to spin if he's a decent leader on the pitch.

To be fair to Farrell, he’s trying to run but he’s just not very quick.

It's the grounds fault!
