"Ukraine has that right to use the weapons provided by London to strike targets inside Russia. Just as Russia is striking inside Ukraine, you can quite understand why Ukraine feels the need to make sure it's defending itself", - David Cameron

Definite change. UK was very cagey about striking targets inside Russia with British weapons before.Zhivago wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 7:25 pmI would say it is a change.Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 11:18 amIs that a change in policy or just a clarification?Zhivago wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 8:27 am "Ukraine has that right to use the weapons provided by London to strike targets inside Russia. agreed. Allowing Putin to win under the threat of nuclear annihilation makes it very hard to stand up to him in the future. Russia started this fight, I have no issue with allowing Ukraine to win without undue constraints being placed on how weapons are used (noting the need for keeping to international law).Zhivago wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 8:56 pmAnd Russia has done nothing. I think Macron has figured this out too. Took some time, but he seems to be getting there.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 9:44 amagreed. Unfortunately, the rest of NATO will be reluctant to be too far ahead of the US, given that the King of Orange might do a 180 on Ukraine if elected in November. Sadly, the west is handing Putin a victory.Zhivago wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 6:36 pmI think Macron has figured this out too. My idle speculation are 1) lived through iron curtain era and says we're not going back under Russian control
2) specifically Ukraine related
3) specifically anti corruption (like kuciaks dad)

I must have been living too long in the Netherlands, I initially thought you meant the Dutch king for some reason.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:59 pmUnfortunately, the rest of NATO will be reluctant to be too far ahead of the US, given that the King of Orange might do a 180 on Ukraine if elected in November. Pretty crappy assassin to shoot someone 4 times and not kill him...
I think the lack of assassinations/attempted assassinations shows the lines oppositions are likely to take. And the oppositions are almost exclusively "not right", as I can't really call them exclusively left. It filters down to every single level.
If this guy shot him 4 times and did not manage to kill him AND was affiliated with Russia, I'm all aboard the conspiracy train here. People like Fico should be rounded up and put in the gulag. This will allow him and his cronies a chance to push through their policies on restricting the press and so on.

Not sure where to put this, so I'm putting it here for the time being, as it involves Russian (diplomatic) aggression.

Putin is at least consistent. Hes been doing this for well over a decade. I would like ot hope that most people have seen through his nonsense by now, but Im sure theres plenty who still think he is the good guy against the evil west.Which Tyler wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 5:49 am Not sure where to put this, so I'm putting it here for the time being, as it involves Russian (diplomatic) aggression.

Time for NATO countries to sail some warships over Putin's new borders.
