How is that not a red card? If Cipriani's is earlier in the year then that definitely is. Late, high, no arms and utterly premeditated

For the first time in my life, I was cheering for your boys!! Eddie Jones' credibility has been shot to pieces - and that of Farrell too!

Jesus. Don’t know what to say.

Where do we go with this? We can turn it on occasionally and be fantastic, but what does that mean for the rest of the time?

Back home with the Calcutta Cup.

We threw that game away twice. Overall a disappointing 6N.

Wow, that was insane. Gutted for you guys in the end. Showed up how limited England are under pressure (for the second time this 6N).

No doubt there are many questions about this match which will never be answered, but.................. why replace Price with Laidlaw????????????????????????

I thought Toolis and Bradbury had their best shifts in blue tonight.

Utterly incredible boys. Guts and skill in abundance. You should be massively proud, regardless of the result. Calcutta Cup retained. Finn Russell is a special, special player. Can’t wait to see him orchestrate play for the lions.

Mixed emotions. For 30mins we looked like a pub team playing dogshit rugby. The defensive shape was laughably poor for an international rugby team.

Then...

And then...just like the WC QF we had to keep the ball for 2mins and run down the clock. We panicked.

Still given the inexperience all over the pitch we will take something from that second half. If we had finished the tournament with a 60 point drubbing I would have serious concerns about the mental scars going forward. But we mustn’t let it gloss over the recurring issues. The defensive system needs overhauled and it must be about time that we pulled in someone like Kitty Macrae.

Fair points. Reminds me of the time Wales would constantly fail to close out games against the SH. Still can’t beat NZ mind!

We shot ourselves in the foot. Stupid penalty cost us st the end. What was Brown doing. 2 massive games we've blown on that pitch in the last 3.5 years.

Oddly gutted for Scotland. A draw would have seemed a good return before the game but you deserved to win that for the fight back.

I honestly thought you were down and out, incredible performance.

Ironically Brown had a big part to play in both. Not fair to scapegoat though. From that distance felt we had them in defence but great belief in the comeback.

Just dont like draws!!

So is it just me wondering if there is quite a lot more to Finn’s joke about having argued with Toony at half time about changing approach?

It just strikes me as amazing how different a side came out for that second half.

A word for Darcy Graham. He's small, but tough, sparky and fast, a great finisher, and punches well above his weight. A pity that a Farrell shoulder to the head put him out of the game, and didn't even see yellow. Well played Scotland. A great pity they did not hang on to nick the win in the end.

Hopefully but in the same situstion he probably still plays. My order for 13 if everyone (except taylor) is fit is Jones, Scott, Bennett, Dunbar, Grigg/JJ/Dean, Harris.

Disappointing tournament overall (albeit heavily mitigated by the injuries) but with some sparks. We had 70 decent minutes against Italy, 40 against Ireland, about 15 against France, I didnt see Wales, and then 45 vs England.

The main positive going forwards is the new players established. If we were to fast forward to a crunch WC game, my team as it stands would be:

Dell
McInally
Nel
Gilchrist
Skinner (I dont know if this is an issue for the lineout as Gray and Toolis seem to be the callers - Gray made an impact yesterday)
Ritchie
Watson
Bradbury
Horne (or Price)
Russell
Kinghorn
Johnson
Jones
Graham
Hogg

Bhatti/Reid
Brown
Fagerson (if he hits form and fitness)
Gray
Barclay
Laidlaw
Hastings
Bennett (on the basis he can cover centre and wing)

Well done, you deserved to win for your guts and determination. At times, Farrell is an utter disgrace on a rugby pitch.

EJ has produced a team of fatty, flat track bullies who cannot think in real time when under the kind of pressure you exerted.

Your second half performance was fairytale stuff and I hope it puts you in a good place under the radar going into the RWC.
