Being presented by Fox et al as "He was coming at them with a knife; clearly the libs want dead police officers" despite the fact that everyone's aware that police in Yank country are very well furnished with Tasers and they have a much longer range than a knife (not to mention the fact that he was not "coming at them" by any definition and they had plenty of options to him brandishing a knife that weren't "hail of bullets").

Agreed on all fronts . It went off here last night, and so it should have. The anger was directed appropriately, despite faux news narrative. More wary of the PO-PO than the protesters tbh.

One shot in the thigh while over the top would have been better than the mentioned hail of bullets

They'll probably say they incapacitated an armed person who was an immediate threat etc - bollocks

Hey, check it everybody! We're finally found someone worse at reading a room than Jeremy Corbyn!

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/breonna-ta ... 020-10-29/
An officer involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor has filed a civil suit against the 26-year-old's boyfriend for emotional distress, assault and battery on the night she was killed. The lawsuit claims Louisville Sergeant Jonathan Mattingly experienced "severe trauma, mental anguish, and emotional distress" because of Kenneth Walker's actions on March 13.

Mattingly and two other officers entered Taylor's apartment early in the morning that day with a warrant in an attempt to carry out a drug investigation. Walker, a licensed gun owner who said he thought the officers were intruders, allegedly fired a shot that hit Mattingly in the leg. Police opened fire, killing Taylor. Taylor had no criminal record and no drugs were found.

"Walker's conduct in shooting Mattingly is outrageous, intolerable, and offends all accepted standards of decency and morality," the lawsuit said, citing one of the legal standards for intentional emotional distress.
The guy's got stones to try that. No soul, but definitely stones.

What would the aim be of that suit? It's probably not money, because who would pay? So it's either weirdness, or somehow it helps with action that might be brought against the officer involved in a shooting?

Blue Feelings Matter.

What a cock. There is the attitude of the authorities to accountability in a fucking nutshell.

Still think Trump is gonna win.

I hope I'm wrong about this but...

Trump, his team, the GOP and Fox News have absolutely no shame to the levels they will stoop to in order to win. There is no coherent policy on anything. They just spread fear.

Who needs facts, when fear does the job?

I think he'll lose the popular vote again though.

Trump's going to declare victory and insist that further ballots be thrown out, triggering a constitutional crisis.
He'll do this based on on-the-day voting, and try to have all the early and postal votes discounted.

Is that before or after he has had his Happy Meal and bronzed up?

Sadly I feel that this is quite likely.

He repeatedly said he will. He will file his law suites at 7:30 pm tomorrow, after the voting is closed. He said that too.

Big turnout in Philly, but you pretty much have to take the day off work to vote. Medieval. Lots of boarding up of shop fronts in anticipation of a smooth transition...

No, I didn't do a spoiler vote. I'm not as green as I am cabbage looking.

If you're in line before a certain time are you certain to be allowed to vote, or will they simply cut off the line?

For all the issues this country has, I’ve rarely seen anything as ludicrous as that; and several states seem to have the same issue.

I can recall one election a few years ago where in one or two locations people in the UK were queuing past 10pm but that’s not the norm.

There's been precious little coverage too of just how crap their voting systems are, nor how few security features the electronic voting systems have. Seemingly the GOP has concluded if there was going to be any hacking they'd be the only players in town, 'cause I simply don't see why else it wouldn't be seriously looked at, and their conclusion they'd be the only cheats in town is of course in itself seriously stupid.

PA has accounted for a few days after the event to tally votes, but this is under fierce attack from the government. If you are in line when the polls close at 8pm, you are allowed to vote. It's a fucking free for all. Making people take a day off work to exercise their right to vote is cynical, if not inhumane. There are advocacy groups that give you a number to call lawyers that are on stand by if you are fucked about/intimidated. It's primitive.
