not sure actually, i think he was messed around. i heard he was off to france at one stage, to Lille, but they had some kind of legal issues and we're denied promotion, i think. when that fell through, i heard the irfu wanted him to commit to playing 7s full time but then they failed in their very last minute attempt to qualify for the olympics. i always liked him. and scanlon, who i think is playing regularly in the championship in england. i like sweetnam though, he has some serious skill and this is really his first year as a pro.paddy no 11 wrote:A great win, poor old keatley is really struggling, feel sorry for him, cant be long before he taps out. Certainly needs a strong scrum half which we lack.
Killer and scannell are class and lucky for us wont get near an Irish Jersey
Conway, awful in parts. Sweetnam has potential but is still getting a lot wrong, but can come good. Hellov whatever happened LOD?

I was thinking, given the quality, 14-0 seems ok.

Strangely enough if ye stick a Tipp accent and a tutu on Johnny Vegas, ye get BBD.

Suspect we may get the BP first, though.

He impressed last season. 1st I've seen of him this. That was pretty relentless stuff!
Way we're playing I don't see us handing out the skittles. Ye'll need to work hard for a score.

3 times now Munster shoved early. I wouldn't have allowed that.

Interesting. I didn't know many of the players on either side but there was some great continuity.

The preventative stuff should make it relentless. It serves a dual purpose of keeping the spectators happy and keeping the players perpetually knackered.SerjeantWildgoose wrote:He impressed last season. 1st I've seen of him this. That was pretty relentless stuff!

Well what a weekend for our boys. Quite the performance in Cork, not only in the scale but also the manner of the win.
And then our 4 lads are front and centre to face the Haka, before 3 of them run in tries! And if Conor, Simon and CJ were up there with the glory boys, then Donnacha had the best game I've seen him play in a red or a green jersey since he ripped the Italians to bits 2 years ago.
And kudos to Billy for pulling a Terry!

Fantastic win by Munster against the Maoris. They tackled like demons the entire game and took their tries well. Great to see several young reserves step up to the mark. Dominated the second half and totally deserved it.

very enjoyable night against the Maoris... now a week off. I see most of the players not involved with Ireland have gone away on mid season breaks..... well earned after an emotional last month.

I cant help wondering if we will pay for all that later in the season
The performances and the emotion have been immense in the last month and some real momentum gained right the way through the squad, in some ways the break is ideal, in others will it be difficult to get that intensity back afterwards

It is not just a must-win, but amazingly, I feel, it is a should win. There is something about the team that is far more about digging out the wins at Ravenhill and Scotstoun than about the demolition of Glasgow the weekend of Axel's funeral; they have found that elusive character that got us through so often in the halcyon days - they know how to win.
That is a strong XV and to be honest there isn't much that we could do to strengthen it, though I'd start Billy and have Donnacha glowering from the bench. I'd also be dropping Duncan and putting Te Aihe on the bench. There is also a chance that Duncan Casey may be fit.
Good to see Francis returning to full training, but ye'd have to ask how he's going to force his way back into that back line.

Munster XV: Simon Zebo; Darren Sweetnam, Jaco Taute, Rory Scannell, Keith Earls; Tyler Bleyendaal, Conor Murray; Dave Kilcoyne, Niall Scannell, John Ryan; Donnacha Ryan, Billy Holland; Peter O'Mahony - capt., Tommy O'Donnell, CJ Stander.
Replacements: Rhys Marshall, Thomas Du Toit, Stephen Archer, Jean Kleyn, Jack O'Donoghue, Duncan Williams, Ian Keatley, Andrew Conway
Between us we got it near enough, hellov. Billy to start and Duncan on the bench.
