Aha. I hadn’t considered that would be Sandydragon asking a sincere question. Comparing anything or anybody to Trump is a pretty pointless exercise.

It was semi serious. Trump is by far the worst option. Whilst Biden has achieved more than his opponents expected him to, can he keep going for another 6 or so years t9 the end of a second term? Is there really no one else the democrats can field? The belief that only Biden can beat trump is surely flawed.Mikey Brown wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 4:11 pmAha. You would hope that anyone else would also stand a decent chance, but it's easy to forget how popular trump was in America, he got votes than anyone else ever has (I think?) obvs apart from Biden. He got more votes than Obama got certainly.Sandydragon wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 8:52 amIt was semi serious. Trump is by far the worst option. It's no that no one else could beat Trump, it's that there's no one else (well, no one else with multimillion $$$ backing) that the Democrats can agree on. The catastrophic US electoral system does its thing.Donny osmond wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 9:15 amYou would hope that anyone else would also stand a decent chance, but it's easy to forget how popular trump was in America, he got votes than anyone else ever has (I think?) obvs apart from Biden. I think Buttigieg is serving his apprenticeship and will be the next Dem establishment candidate in 4 years time. Harris and maybe AOC might challenge, but I suspect the Democratic party would rather have a gay candidate than a female one. After all, he's married to a man - that's basically twice as manly!Son of Mathonwy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 4:35 pmIt's no that no one else could beat Trump, it's that there's no one else (well, no one else with multimillion $$$ backing) that the Democrats can agree on. He lost the popular vote both times he ran.Donny osmond wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 9:15 amYou would hope that anyone else would also stand a decent chance, but it's easy to forget how popular trump was in America, he got votes than anyone else ever has (I think?) obvs apart from Biden. I know but on votes cast he's the 2nd most popular presidential candidate ever.morepork wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:08 pmHe lost the popular vote both times he ran.Donny osmond wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 9:15 amYou would hope that anyone else would also stand a decent chance, but it's easy to forget how popular trump was in America, he got votes than anyone else ever has (I think?) obvs apart from Biden.
