So?
It was in answer to who is least shit of him and trump.
Aha. I hadn’t considered that would be Sandydragon asking a sincere question. Comparing anything or anybody to Trump is a pretty pointless exercise.

It was semi serious. Trump is by far the worst option. Whilst Biden has achieved more than his opponents expected him to, can he keep going for another 6 or so years t9 the end of a second term? Is there really no one else the democrats can field? The belief that only Biden can beat trump is surely flawed.

You would hope that anyone else would also stand a decent chance, but it's easy to forget how popular trump was in America, he got votes than anyone else ever has (I think?) obvs apart from Biden. He got more votes than Obama got certainly.

It's no that no one else could beat Trump, it's that there's no one else (well, no one else with multimillion $$$ backing) that the Democrats can agree on. The catastrophic US electoral system does its thing.

I think Buttigieg is serving his apprenticeship and will be the next Dem establishment candidate in 4 years time. Harris and maybe AOC might challenge, but I suspect the Democratic party would rather have a gay candidate than a female one. After all, he's married to a man - that's basically twice as manly!

He lost the popular vote both times he ran.

I know but on votes cast he's the 2nd most popular presidential candidate ever.

Obama got more in the popular votes in 2008 and 2012, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in 2016 (the Electoral College being severely flawed and undemocratic? The devil you say!) and Biden won the popular vote in 2020. It's almost as if the orange fash-fuck is full of shit.

It's probably past time where an international advisory against travel to the US was issued. Hard to justify wanting to live here in the face of this.

Tbh that feels like the least worst of these, the deliberate mass killing versus I'm an idiot who trys to shoot someone they have a beef with at a public event

It feels fucked from the outside looking in, I visited a blue state 10 years ago and am pretty sure I couldn't live there

Not too bad, I headed up to the cottage this morning to meet a contractor, still hazy but better than in the city. Scary to think this is only the start of the fire season.

Looks like it's worse south of the border than up here right now, though changes by the hour. Mother nature slaps back. I wonder what the long term health effects will be.

Thanks Sandy, luckily I spent many years hardening my lungs with cigarettes, pretty much bullet proof in that respect, in all seriousness, I worry about the after effects for my kids and their generation. Folks on the front line are doing it tough, communities disappearing. Told to evacuate one day, come back a few weeks later to find everything you've spent your life building is gone. Meanwhile the political elites maneuver for political power by creating culture wars to keep us distracted. All very depressing.

Wow. A couple in Denmark were having an argument and the police noticed. The guy (who was black) started to scream ‘I’m complying I’m complying’ before the officers even got to them. He was terrified.

These officers are asking…how can we reassure our visitors that calling the police while black in Europe is not risking a death sentence? Suggestions are offered in the video and comments.

But - Just….

Wow.

“We’re going to keep foreign, Christian-hating communists, Marxists and socialists out of America.”

So much sophisticated nuance in so concise a statement. I'm assuming Christian-hating communists, Marxists and socialists that are citizens are good?

It's comical, and sad.

He also said there needs to be a "new law" to address communists and Marxists who grew up in America. You couldn't make this stuff up. Trump/Taylor Green 2024 - yey god.

If anything, Taylor-Green is worse than Trump. She genuinely seems to believe this shit, I still think a large part of him is taking advantage of the prejudice.
