I think he'll do well if fit. International days are behind him but already seen chatter about what would need to happen for him to play again. Won't happen.

I would never consider him for Scotland, and it wouldn't surprise me if privately he has told Montpellier he wouldn't make him self available.

There's going to be a lot of revisionism about Hoggs on field career based on what has happened off field.

I was curious and there’s a video of all his involvements from the game on YouTube. He looks a lot leaner again, and I imagine better for it. Much lighter on his feet than the last few years he played for Scotland.

Still a dropped high ball, missed tackles and a couple of wayward kicks in there, but looks sharper than I’d have expected after this long out.

Hopefully he can channel some of his issues/frustration in a positive way as a player, rather than just being a bitch on Twitter. I don’t know that he can redeem himself as a public figure and role model but keeping his head down would be the best thing for everyone.

He had big flaws as a player but I agree this sentiment that he’s a bit of a twat and therefore never was a good player is ridiculous. Absolutely no way back for Scotland though.

However, hours before the trial was due to get under way, it has emerged that the full-back has been arrested again over an alleged breach of bail conditions and stalking.

Hogg played for Montpellier today, facing Toulouse with Kinghorn at full back. Toulouse win 20-11. Neither player scored but Hogg got a yellow card.

Interesting article in the Telegraph (of all places - you can just imagine the comments section!) about that the other day - apparently he has always been Onyeama-Christie, but whenever he tried to get it put on the back of a rugby shirt when he was younger in age grades, it ended up being shortened in a stupid fashion like "O' Christie", so he gave up and went by Christie instead (plus I'd imagine depressingly easier to avoid dealing with people and systems that couldn't cope with a Nigerian origin name). Saracens were doing a check on their DEI and he was the player rep involved, and they asked if there was any minor things they should be doing better on, so he explained about his shirt issues and they changed their shirt formatting to make sure they could fit longer surnames on.

Hopefully Scotland will follow suit if he's picked in the autumn.

Yes they do. This is from this years 6N. Van Der Merwe is 11 letters and 2 spaces. Onyeama-Christie Is 15 letters and a hyphen. They’ll need a smaller font or two rows.

Gray IS in the team for Bordeaux and Kinghorn has been selected on the left wing. I think that means he’s played 11, 14 and 15 already this season.

Hutchison scored a try (and got a yellow card) for Northampton in their win over Exeter.

I completely forgot about Gus Warr, he scored a try in Sale’s loss to Saracens.
