Welp. There's my hope of a good week written off. Picked McGinty (on the basis that Sale were going to run over an understrength Quins), who played excellently in making the pass before the assist for several tries and got subbed on 50 minutes because Sale were running over an understrength Quins.

Watch Simmonds score a hat-trick now.

I feel your pain. MacGinty was my ‘clever’ signing for this week ... I suspect his score will improve once they settle, but still a poor choice ...

Thankfully I didn’t make him captain.

Also picked MacGinty, really poor choice

I didn’t pick McGinty but I doubt it’s done me much good either.

Thankfully Tom Willis was kind enough to bail out my underwhelming half backs with a monster 82 points on his own!

Good to see mostly full strength sides being named. My side is predicted to score 650 something points. If it scores anything like that I’ll be delighted.

It’s super tight at the top of the Rugby Rebels Premiership.

Bristol vs. Irish being cancelled hits me hard.

I gambled on Thacker this week ... oh well ...

Aye, more than half my squad gone with the two cancelled games. Feeling the pressure with the race for the podium being so close

I've been tinkering with my transfers last minute - spent a lot of money to get Malins in this week, so I transferred him back out (cause I'm now not short on orange dotted backs!) and spent a good 10 minutes equivocating between bringing in Dombrandt or Montoya. On the one hand, if Leicester get the upper hand, Montoya is gonna be our main try scorer sitting at the back of rolling mauls. On the other, he's just back from injury and Borthwick seems to have faith in Charlie Clare, so he could come off early. Dombrandt's usually good for a decent score and Newcastle aren't the tightest defence in the league... agh, having to make actual decisions rather than being forced into an XV by budget and squad constraints.

I've gone for Dombrandt. Watch now, as he pulls up after 2 minutes.

So far Dombrandt's the right decision - neither of them are scoring highly right now, but if I'd picked Montoya, then I'd've benched McGuigan who's currently having a stormer.

Not only was I wrong not to pick Montoya, I also relegated Martin to the bench to accomodate Dombrandt and took McGinty and McGuigan off the bench for orange dots. I would've scored far more if I'd just not bothered touching my team at all today. Le sigh.

At least my non-Simmonds captain paid off today.

Captain was a 50:50 between Care and Smith so naturally I made the wrong choice. That plus Skinner’s red card cost me about 50 points, but had a pretty decent week all told.

Looks like our Play Offs are decided:

Scrum of the Earth (me) vs. The Pujover Tries (Puja)

Switches Selection (Switch Skier) vs. Reigate Royals (Bloggs)

Can Bloggs retain the title?

Meanwhile towards the bottom of the table I am selecting my squad ready for next weekends action and hopefully can improve with a more limited pool of players which seems to be the case for me.

I think I’ve picked a good side, but I hate these play off games (in Fantasy) as it totally changes the dynamic of how you pick/build a side.

Anyway ...

Puja, treat this as the handshake before kick off.

Same.

Although I'll change that opinion should I win.

Good fortune, sir.

Forgot to change my team…but saw Quins win at Ashton Gate, so I’m ok I’m almost certainly relinquishing the trophy!

Initial points of 443 for me. I always do better in playoffs than the regular season.

The scores might shift a bit, but as it stands, I’ve gone one better than last year and made our final to take on Switch Skier.

I should mention that I have topped our league table 3yrs in a row* without winning in the play offs so I’m hoping it will be third time lucky for me.

It actually could have been better for me this week. I literally swapped my captain from Malins to Care at the last minute and benched Green to start Devoto. Two very poor decisions that cost me a lot of points.

*Scotty doesn’t post on here so I don’t really include him.

You've absolutely dicked upon me, barring a sudden upswing in points for me. Well done, sir!

523 for me, why can’t I score like that normally. Finally finished in 12th place which is about average for me. Well done everyone, same time, same place next year.

I’ve actually won this at long last! :D

I’d like to think it was won with as much style as Quins.

Thanks to everyone who participated this season. I hope to see you all playing again next season and I’d love to see some more posters join the league.

Congratulations. Felt like I pushed you hard all season but you finished strongly, timing your firm well and peaking at the right time.looking forward to the rematch next year.

Shall we have a 'no Sam Simmonds' rule next year to make it more challenging?
