From the maul? Because the backline was stood ready for a kick, did you want him to pass to a 10 that didn't want it. Don't listen to Dayglo and his nonsense.Oakboy wrote:What a horrendous decision from Youngs. Sums him up.Banquo wrote:agree w lol. Why the fuck did Youngs kick that??

Re: Italy vs England - Sunday 3pm
he was dead right, whoever called that kick wants shooting- prime ball to run. Not sure why you don't get that- itmay hae been planned before the maul went 15 yards at a lick, but you then change it.FKAS wrote:From the maul? I'm guessing the call was made before the maul went marching forwards. If the backs then don't change the call the 9 doesn't have much choice.Banquo wrote:he was dead right, whoever called that kick wants shooting- prime ball to run.FKAS wrote:From the maul? The standard of this match since approx 60mins has been terrible.

It should have been changed, all sides have systems to do that. If you are saying we dont adpt well, I agree. Terrible waste of good ball.FKAS wrote:I'm guessing the call was made before the maul went marching forwards. Too much ruth evident in second half.
Something EJ & co. will be working on to get to another level.

Looked like 10 with Smith at 12 though Smith seemed to be freed up to a floating playmaker role whilst Ford directed the troops. England looked more dangerous in that one passage with them doing that than they did the rest of the game. Few phases and length of the pitch, shame Slade bungled the finish.Mellsblue wrote:IC, nominally.Stom wrote:Where is Ford playing?
Kind of wish we'd have gone to that tactic earlier, it was fun to watch.

Itoje had his best test at 6 to date but he’s not at the level of Ludlam or Lawes in that role.

He was ok , but he's a mediocre 6 and a world class lock. The pack as a whole were ponderous and inaccurate.jngf wrote:Itoje had his best test at 6 to date but he’s not at the level of Ludlam or Lawes in that role.

You lot are a hard audience. England just nilled a team away from home. Ok, the intensity dropped at times but that's a bit inevitable when there's no real threat from the opposition. England took the easy chances and got some valuable experience for some combinations that can grow together.

It's incredibly frustrating to remain an England fan at the moment. Ending up with
Ewels
Ioje
Simmonds?
Chessum?
Dombrandt?
Youngs
Smith
Daly
Slade
FORD
Malins
Steward
Is beyond my ken. It's bonkers

Re: Italy vs England - Sunday 3pm
Smith was noticeably often at 12 looping round Slade as 1st receiver in the 1st half, created space for eg Steward, who died with it a few times....but they looked more dangerous then because Ford was taking it a bit flatter than Slade, plus the Italians were tired.FKAS wrote:Looked like 10 with Smith at 12 though Smith seemed to be freed up to a floating playmaker role whilst Ford directed the troops. Not really- Italy were very poor, and we made tons of unforced errors. I agree that winning is the best way to develop.switchskier wrote:You lot are a hard audience.
