I was going to do a XV of players with the most caps v All Blacks in each position with a 100% win rate, but then realized that it would just be the 1949 Springboks. See the Stats thread for more on this.

Yeah, Jamie George gave that one away immediately.

I would have guessed Cronin for that one to be honest.

No. A lot of those players are from before replacements were allowed.

Gosh. I mean, fair point, well made, and strikingly obvious when you put it like that, but I'm stumped as to what else Jamie George tops the stats in, let alone has in common with Tawera Kerr-Barlow.

Good work Liz!

Hint: which nation is not represented but is of the ilk of those that are?

Possibly Eddie, given the number of times we've played Australia of late.

That was my first thought but it’s probably some Afrikaner born at the turn of the last century.

That’s a bit of a tough one.

Eddie is 6 from 6 which must be up there.

I’m pretty sure no pro era All Blacks coach is undefeated v Aus. Fred Allen was 3 from 3 back in the day, matched by Bob Duff in 1972.

One thought - did Japan or South Africa play Australia while Eddie was in charge of those?

Good point. Eddie was assistant to SA in 2007 when they went 1 from 2 v AU. But I would generally not count assistant roles in considering coaching successes.

Japan under Eddie Jones never faced Australia.

1. t daly aus
2. j robinson eng
3. t woodcock nz
4. t dusautoir fra
5. o finnegan aus
6. j kirwan  nz
7. m jones nz
8. d pocock aus
9. p berbizier fra/d kirk nz
10. b barrett nz
11. l tuquiri aus
12. m nonu nz
13. t kuridranu aus
14. n milner-scudder nz
15 b tune aus

1 notable nation missing representation.

South Africa is unrepresented, but it can’t be because the criteria involve them as opposition - David Kirk’s whole career was during their exclusion due to Apartheid.

Something to do with World Cups?

Try scorers in RWC finals. South Africa are excluded because both their victories came from penalties and drop goals.

Robinson at hooker though?!
