Re: Autumn International Squad

I'm still confused about Collier, to be honest.
Porter was outstanding last season. What's more worrying is that he's picking Porter ahead of significantly fitter options. Porter has managed less than two games this season.
apart from the matches he played for England.
You’re missing the context of the original post by just quoting that sentence. My point was that most of the players Eddie has picked in match day squads have shown themselves to be ready for it, Porter was simply the most recent example of one who didn’t.
No I pointed out he deservedly got a shot in the summer where he got the ball three times in two games because the young flyhalf was having his fifth and sixth shonky games in a row for England. He did well when actually passed the ball mind. Left to cover Farrell's lack of pace in a new defensive structure where he was targeted by a talented Aussie backline.Scrumhead wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 4:35 pmYou’re missing the context of the original post by just quoting that sentence. I don’t dispute that he was good for Tigers, but he looked out of his depth at test level which is why I was referring to him as ‘not ready’. He might well get there, but it’s baffling that he was picked for this series ahead of players who have looked far more comfortable playing for England. Even weirder considering the fitness piece.
OK. So his sub standard performances in Australia were Smith and Farrell’s fault … right …FKAS wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 6:18 pmNo I pointed out he deservedly got a shot in the summer where he got the ball three times in two games because the young flyhalf was having his fifth and sixth shonky games in a row for England. He's barely played this season which was my point so you can't compare his form with his contemporaries and why he shouldn't be there. Especially whilst Marchant and Lawrence are looking decent.
No he had a rough start in unfortunate conditions. Be harsh to toss him aside if he maintained his club form at the start of the season. You'd want to see if he had learned from the experience and developed. As he's been injured though there's no much point including him because he isn't going to be match sharp.Scrumhead wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 6:51 pmOK. I think Smith has been pretty average in the past few games for England too, but your memory of Porter’s showings seems to be very kind.
agreed, despite the poor quality of commentary usual, they were right over enthusing about him.ilovelamp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 7:25 pm In terms of second row options for the not too distant future Cam Jordan is developing very nicely at Glaws at the moment. Second row options post world cup could be very good indeed Richards the guy at Bath looks mobile and physical, Chessum Jnr is coming along nicely at whatever ridiculous height he is, he's an obvious go to in the lineout and improving around the park. Tizard, Chessum Snr are both early twenties and it's not to late to steal Cam Henderson from Scotland if he shows his best form following that nasty knee injury he had a year ago.Banquo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 9:21 amagreed, despite the poor quality of commentary usual, they were right over enthusing about him.ilovelamp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 7:25 pm In terms of second row options for the not too distant future Cam Jordan is developing very nicely at Glaws at the moment. Martin, Hill and Coles all in the third jumper 6 role.
Yep. I’d agree with that.FKAS wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 9:55 amSecond row options post world cup could be very good indeed Richards the guy at Bath looks mobile and physical, Chessum Jnr is coming along nicely at whatever ridiculous height he is, he's an obvious go to in the lineout and improving around the park. Mako is such a good player in the loose still. Final 15/23 could be great, or mehPuja wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 4:18 pm Assuming a 5/3 bench split (not always a safe assumption), we need to lose two of Ribbans, Coles, Robinson, Simmonds to make the XXIII. Or we go 6:2 and we have to lose one of Slade/Cokanasiga/Nowell from the backs.
Fascinating to see that Singleton (who isn't guaranteed of a place in the Gloucester first XV) is ahead of McGuigan after originally not being selected and two weeks in camp. Suggests there's something about McGuigan that Eddie just doesn't fancy. Also interesting to see MakoV beating out Rodd for the 16 shirt.
Lazarus level of resurrection from May to be fit to start.
