Doesn't really wind me up when I agree. I'd rather hoped this would be the world cup where Youngs was eased out of the squad as opposed to being eased back into the starting line up.
Was pretty much my reaction, after grimacing at the thought of him limping off the pitch having suffered that injury.
100% agree.Oakboy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 8:16 amWhy does that happen so often with rugby? Being macho is dumb if it makes an injury worse. Get a fucking stretcher on.

I'd just like to take a moment to express my amusement at this sentence turning up in the national press. Trowbridge RFC are my club (for the 3rd XV, mind) and have been on a bit of a media blitz of late, with several media-friendly stories that they're looking to tap into (if you read a story recently about the women's rugby team who saved lives when there was a car-crash on the road while they were training, that was us too) and even went as far as to hold a "Henry Arundell day" recently, with RFU cameramen coming down to do a video piece on the youth/minis/women's/community engagement, which are all thriving. Clearly the media blitz is working and we've officially become "the club that produced Arundell". Technically true, cause he first started playing as a 7 year old with our minis, but a little bit of a stretch to say he was "playing for Trowbridge RFC" or imply that that connection would have an impact on his future career choices, considering I don't believe he was there beyond the age of 9.Joining Bath or Gloucester would ensure that Arundell remains in the England frame. He spent some of his youth close to Bath, attending Beechen Cliff School and playing for Trowbridge RFC.
Ah, give them a break. I'm sure they taught him everything he knows.Puja wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:24 amMellsblue wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 9:30 am Sorry Twitchy but I beat you to it

On a serious note, the game and clubs need all the positive even tangential good news they can muster at the moment.Margin_Walker wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:37 amAh, give them a break. Iirc the 10 mins of his first game was excellent. Came off the bench and looked threatening, made metres. Then broke and disappeared again.
Jaysus Puja - with a background like that, you may get an England cap yet !Puja wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 10:24 amMellsblue wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 9:30 am Sorry Twitchy but I beat you to it

Makes sense. Any sub is unlikely to get used bar a sudden flurry of injuries and so it makes sense to have a seasoned pro who could just drop in if needs be. Mind, I wonder who they'll replace him with when he gets injured tomorrow?

In fairness, none of the viable options have any meaningful experience at test level. Don’t Mercer, Tom Willis and Pearson share 4 caps between them?Margin_Walker wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 1:03 pm Well it's the 'credit in the bank' squad,so you may as well add another lad that was playing decent rugby 4 years ago.
