Russell played well with ball in hand for Bath against Leicester but his kicking from hand and from the tee was gash. Bath lost both wingers, Bayliss was moved to the wing then subbed off with the reserve scrum half going to the wing.

Another defeat for Toulouse (away to Castres) and Midi Olympique wrote that Kinghorn was "clumsy". Maybe he's becoming a tad too fond of a pastis?

That’s a curious one. All I was aware of regarding him was people questioning how he has ended up in the R92 squad, aside from his dad being the coach.

He looks fairly competent, but with Tuipulotu, Redpath and McDowall I can’t say I’d have thought to look at a player like him.

Solidly fine. He's not set the world alight, but he's been functional in keeping Saracens running, usually behind a pack that's on top. Not been goal-kicking, but that's more Lozowski being excellent than anything else.

Frankly, there was never a suggestion that he'd be in the EPS while we have Smith/Smith/Ford (and we'd likely pick Furbank as 10 cover ahead of him). I suspect Townsend will parachute him in this international period, as otherwise he'd likely be called for England A, which would tie him for 3 years, and he is a decent player. Won't be challenging Russell any time soon, but I'd rate him higher than Hastings.

I've only managed to see scraps of Burke for Saracens, would go with Puja's description so far - but its early days for him in a new team.
Don't know enough yet to rank him v Hastings. The Hastings who left Glasgow was a really good 10. No Russell but who is?. Hastings move and serial serious injuries hampered him at Gloucs so never shone there at all. He has looked on return to Glasgow pretty similar to Burke at Saracens - feeling his way a bit but doing fine

So I can see why Burke might get the call next week and Hastings not (a capture against a capped player). The slight problem in all this is another guy playing 10 a lot, uncapped and becomes Scotland qualified this Nov. Not a conventional 10, not a great kicker from hand or tee by goodness me is he effective!

It would be something to name 2 uncapped 10s for this series. OTOH first game we can only call up Glasgow and Edin players, so maybe Jordan for that one and Burke for Portugal later on
