Really think he is hard done by in the press.
Who's been having a dig at Ford..?
Dors and p/d, the usual suspects :)

I resent being labelled as a journalist. ;)

Mind you, I can't help thinking that had Farrell started he would have got the whole captaincy job not half of it. I'd love to see Ford rule the roost. It hasn't happened yet, IMO, when Farrell has been on the pitch. I find it disappointingly suggestive of a lack of trust in Ford that Robshaw has to help him do the job. Others see him getting half the job as confirmation of his leadership qualities. Really? A FH ought to lead anyway and who else was there in the backs? Only Care could have any claim and he'll be too busy savouring a rare start.

I think you’ll find Robshaw was going to lift the cup himself but Ford is in the process of grabbing it off him - much like he should when Farrell is taking line kicks. The following photo in the sequence shows a bloodied Robshaw lying in the floor with Ford standing above him, foot on chest. In the background the rugby cognoscenti are thinking ‘Wow, he truly is an on field leader’.

Though Itoje has the 6 shirt will he be actually packing down in the second row and Ewels playing on the flank (a la Lawes 5.5 style)?

Give him a break. There’s only so many different ways to crowbar his weird notions about the various roles of the back 5 of the scrum in to a conversation.

If anything Jngf, I think Itoje will move forward (forming a classic left/right configuration with Launchbury) in the scrum, with Robshaw (6’2” and pretty slow) sneakily shifting to 6 to accommodate Simmonds (only like 6 foot tall) at openside and then all Ewels has to do is learn to play 8.

That's not an unreasonable question actually. If Itoje is truly all that and a bag of chips in the scrum, then it would make sense. Ewels even has experience at 8!

I don't expect it though - if Eddie is truly testing if Maro can hack it in the back row, then it strikes me as unfair to make him shove in the engine room as well.

as I said, it would be odd. Has Ewels played 6 this season? Itoje has.

Ewels did play at 8 for Bath a bit last season....AND Eddie did say in a recent interview they were looking at him as a possible back row option. It all becomes clearer now. A BR of locks is on the cards, 5.5 X 3.

So maybe we’ll see 6 Ewels 7 Itoje 8 Robshaw at some point in the game? ;)

Do you ever dream about this stuff Jngf. Apologies if that is too personal a question. I’m just curious.

I might dream about playing prop in a mixed pack with two female locks - well you did ask...

You're thinking too small - 4 Launchbury, 5 Isiekwe, 6 Lawes, 7 Itoje, 8 Ewels. It might have many and varied flaws, but by god it would offer some options in the lineout.

Wouldn't it be better to be at 8 in that scenario?
