I am aware yes. It's more the inexperience of the front row, the weight of the second and Simmonds relative lack of time on the flank that concerned me

How happy am I going to be if Sam Simmonds gets a run out at openside flank at some stage in the test match - I can almost feel it like a ring of power

Presume you’re referring to Davison? Despite watching quite a bit of Prem rugby I genuinely know next to nothing about him as a player (although he has a good back story). I thought he was a tight head when he was first picked, but looking at Newcastle’s team sheets he does appear to have generally been their first choice loosehead for the last 2/3 seasons. Deano doesn’t suffer fools and they usually have a good setpiece and tight game, so hopefully he knows what he’s doing.Puja wrote:Do we though? As good as he is I guess it’s just cutting it too fine when you already have 2 loose heads in the squad.SDHoneymonster wrote:
If he's double jabbed then surely Mako wouldn't have to isolate on return?

Davison has played a fair bit on both sides of the scrum, which is his principal offering. I'd say he's a decent Prem player but no more. You wont see him in the loose much. He doesnt really carry and his handling is only so-so.
For some reason Jones likes him.

As a huge fan of Simmonds I just hope it gets on. I can only assume - injuries aside - we will get to see a Curry, Simmonds, Dombrandt back row

I would assume that Curry would move to 6 with Simmonds at 7 in that context (as happened when Earl came on as a finisher). If it went well an Underhill v Simmonds competition for the starting test openside berth could become intense as both have their respective X factor talents (defence for the former and explosive pace for the latter)p/d wrote:As a huge fan of Simmonds I just hope it gets on. Big game from Ireland, but the NZ midfield look like they've never faced a blitz defence before.
Waa sure the ref was going to find some way to reward the American football pass for the disallowed try.

Still gutted with Eddie's tactical fuckwittery, but hoping for a forced reshuffle at some point with some players where they should be.

If only there was a single, specific player that could be dropped to make that happen. Ah well.WaspInWales wrote:Still gutted with Eddie's tactical fuckwittery, but hoping for a forced reshuffle at some point with some players where they should be.
