Biggest omission for me, though would agree that it would have been nice to see Kinghorn there too.

Maybe his maw was part of the board decision to let VC go

A couple of young lads have been royally screwed over there.

Bradbury was probably the starting no 8 for me. Wise beyond his years, brilliant defence and an absolute wrecking ball with the ball in hand. Kinghorn has been excellent and is quite clearly the understudy to Hogg.

Meanwhile you've got a few blokes in there on reputation alone. Gilchrist for one.

I'll be cheering on us every game but i am looking forward to seeing the back of VC tbh. He's an awful selector.

Clanger of the century. Should never have been dropped after the Argie game. How does VC get a call or two so badly wrong every squad announcement.

The squad will change over the entire campaign, not sure I'd have Bradbury starting against Ireland or France.

I think he'd be an excellent option off the bench in either game though. Offers an attacking threat completely different to the other back rows we have IMO.

Team vs Ireland from that:

Reid Brown Fargerson (they play together+ Brown is fairly disruptive in the loose)
Gray Swinson
Barclay Wilson Watson (Barclay and Wilson as lineout options)

Laidlaw Russell

Dunbar Scott

Maitland Seymour
Hogg

Subs:
Dell Ford Nell
Gray snr(might be a bit much for Toolis)
CDP(man crush)
Price
Jones (feel more confident chasing a game with him rather than Scott)
Hoyland

Classic :strong start followed by more mobile players...

....
You may bite

I was of similar mind at the time until it was pointed out how poor his ruck work was.

Ah shit. I was just thinking it can't be that he's actually nailed this squad. It does look a little bloated, and yes, Kinghorn and Bradbury seem like weird omissions.

Other than that all the players are there, but 5 locks and 5 centres? Is it horribly pessimistic to assume he'll still manage to cut the wrong people?

I think a settled squad is the way to go, Ireland and England are well in front but with Englands injury problems Ireland has to be strong favourites but with bonus points I think we could have a good 6N as we can certainly score tries

Fine with that.

Bradbury and Kinghorns time will come. Little doubt they are going to be 30 cap + Scotland players.

At the moment we have been relatively lucky on the injury front.

I know...mockers gods will now ensure that Hogg's and Russell's legs fall off against Leicester

This is one of the biggest positives about the current Scotland team compared to the 2000-2012 era. 5 years ago we'd have shat ourselves about the prospect of try bonus points. We'd have maybe picked up a couple of LBPs from arm-wrestle games.

Fagerson
Gray x2
Barclay
Watson (I wouldn't be surprised to see VC play Wilson here)
Wilson

Price but we know it will be Laidlaw
Russell
Maitland
Dunbar
Scott
Seymour
Hogg

Brown, Reid, Welsh (Nel injured), Swinson, Strauss, Laidlaw (Price), Weir (he'll be there), Jones (if fit)/Taylor (if fit)/Bennet if not.

I wouldn't be surprised to see CdP capped at somepoint though.

Im pretty happy with that. Would probs have liked Bradbury but wouldnt have started him. I like Kinghorn but for now I think Maitland is our second choice full back

In the last 3 years in 36 games they've scored 4 or more tries v Georgia (AI), USA (RWC), Japan (RWC), Italy (ST), Tonga (AI), Argentina (AI).

Did they not score 3 tries against Ireland and Wales last 6N, I know its not 4 but I think Wales, Italy both could leak tries, can't see anyone getting a try bonus from Ireland or England and we always panic against France

Just out of interest when did we concede 4 tries last.

Did Ireland score 4 against us in Dublin last year ?

Yup Ireland away.

Samoa and Australia at the world cup on neutral ground, Ireland at home in the 2015 6N.

Wales and SA in 2014.

I think the bonus points is a bit of a red herring to be honest. We might get one or two try scoring ones if we jave a good tournament and maybe a losing one or two but it will be rare that it leads to overtaking a team that has more wins that you.

Possibly but 3 losing BP would overcome a draw by 2 other teams
